My tummy feels yucky after each meal. Do that mean I am eating the wrong things or am I eating to much or am I now a vegetarian? I have no idea. Can you help me out? I am three weeks out.

Hi,

Is it an uncomfortable feeling or a gurgle? Is there pain or do you feel nauseous?

I get an uncomfortable (nauseous) feeling after I eat pork. I steer clear of pork now.

At 3 wks out you tummy is still healing. As I am now 10wks out and my tummy is still healing as well. It's difficult to answer because it is undefined if your eating too much because it doesn't say what phase your currently on are u able to eat food? All Drs are different and you don't say how much your able to eat of what kind of foods. I wasn't allowed meat until 9wks post op. I do feel uncomfortable and yucky when I start a new introduction and I am having a real problem at this point. I wish I could offer u more help however I'm with you at 10wks anytime I eat I "know" it. And I'm only eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup total. No Fluid before or after and following all dr and nut instructions.

Probably your stomach letting you know it's too soon for you to try whatever it was you had. There were quite a few things that I couldn't eat 3 weeks out, even though it was on the "approved" list. I had to stick with what didn't make me sick (which wasn't very much), and try things again a few weeks later.

You are allowed to eat food so soon after surgery??

In my program, I'm not allowed any solids at all....unless you count sugar free jello!!

For the first three weeks post-pop, all that is allowed (and on a schedule) are low-sugar or sugar free Protein shakes at 4oz every other hour (sipping it over 30-40 minutes), alternating with clear sugar-free fluids - again sips of 4-8 oz over the hour. The goal is 60mg of Protein, and 48-60 oz fluids.

I've found that if I drink Water *normally*,with a big swig, my stomach becomes instantly achy, all kinds of crampy, with waves of nausea (no vomiting, Thank God!

Sorry for just assuming you'd just recently had surgery, but as several people have said, it is so very important to follow doctors orders. Stick with whatever has been named approved food(s) for your individual post-op stage. Take your time eating; enjoy every single little bite!!

According to my plan I start puréed at week two. It sounds like you all agree that I am eating the wrong things and these feelings are not normal after surgery. I will get an calendar and make a list of thing I can't eat on what date. Do this make since?

You need to follow your nutritionist plan. If you need to put that on a calender then that's a good idea. Mine was relatively simple. 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks purees, 2 weeks soft foods then regular food as tolerated. Every program has a different protocol.
