What do you miss?

Recommended Posts

In terms of things in which you imbibed.

I miss wine. I went to happy hour, had Blue Sapphire and Tonic and got 3 tiny sips in. Felt like I drank acid and the tonic was flat. Pretty sure it was the gin.

Also miss class craft beer.

Oh well, fitting into my pants makes up for it. Lol

What drinks/foods do you miss?

Fortunately, I can eat or drink a few sips of most everything, but I miss being able to eat a normal meal like a normal person. It's a little awkward when I'm the only one not eating and very few people know I've had the surgery. I also miss being able to grab a quick meal. Tonight I'm sitting at my desk trying to choke down a chicken sandwich and it's a little frustrating that I've had maybe 1/8 of it and while I feel hungry, I'm also starting to feel sick, which is generally what happens when I eat more than I should. Sometimes I miss being normal, but then i look in the mirror and I see a girl who is now very normal and I wouldn't trade that for a little bit of food.

So far nothing. I haven't tried alcohol or strangely enough ice cream, but I also haven't had a desire for them yet.

So far, at six months post op, the only thing I miss is being able to chug down a whole bottle of Water quickly. Now it's sips and my new sleeve doesn't like plain water. I miss plain water.

I miss that too and it's a habit I am still struggling with everyday. I stay hydrated so it's a bad habit.

I think that's the great thing about WLS; tastes changes. I have had b-day cake, candy, Cookies but one polite nibble and that was more than enough. It just doesn't taste right and I don't crave any of it. Chalk one more thing up to eating well/right. :) .....& exercise.

As I type this my hubby is laughing at me because he never thought he'd see the day these things would come out of my mouth.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
