roundisashape 712 Posted January 17, 2015 For those of you who were fortunate enough to be able to come off of blood pressure medication post-op, what was your BP running when the doctor made that decision? Did they wait until it was dipping below normal?
ProjectMe 909 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) I was losing weight prior to surgery. At one of my appointments my blood pressure was lower than normal. At the time I think I was 30 pounds down and working out 4-5xs a week. So my Dr. took me off the meds to be on the safe side, and told me to keep up the exercise/weight loss. That was 3-4 months ago and my blood pressure has stayed in the normal range without meds since then. I'm now 4 weeks post op Edited January 17, 2015 by ProjectMe
leenieceymic1 90 Posted January 18, 2015 I was taken off & then put back on. I've lost 56 lbs. My surgery was on Oct 8, 2014. Prior to the surgery I was on 2 blood pressure medications & 1 diabetic pill. Now I'm just on 1 blood pressure medication. I have no idea why my pressure was normal after surgery & about over a month or two in it went up again.
roundisashape 712 Posted January 18, 2015 I'm a little scared of that, too - I got my prescription cut down and I WANT off of the meds, I'm just worried about it going back up again. The doc said not everyone's HBP is totally weight related and coming off completely might not be an option, but I'm holding out hope!
JustJaime5 32 Posted January 18, 2015 I was on 4 diff bp meds. I'm 1 month out and 30 lbs down and they took me off 1 med last week. (And another they removed the diuretic part pre op) my pressure was in the 120/70 range when he took me off. It's only been a week so I can't tell u what result it's having yet. Hoping to have them all taken away as I loose more weight.
