Phase 2 / Full Liquids?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Im 9 days post-op & Day 2 on full liquids. It's tough to get it the required liquids in addition to eating full liquid foods. So far I've had greek yogurt & blended lentil Soup. The soup isn't sitting to well. Any ideas/suggestions for Phase 2 foods?

Did your surgeon or surgeon provide a list of recommended foods? I only ask because different surgeons have different phase requirements. "Full liquid" to me means Protein Shakes, sugar free popsicles, and so on.

I had a lot of pudding, hot cocoa, milk, Tomato Soup, and sugar free ice cream/fudgsicles/popsicles during that phase.

I found that it was easier for me to get liquids in if they were warm or room temp. I had a hard time with phase 2, and actually had to go back to phase 2 when the pureed stage was not working out for me. So I spent about a month in the liquid phase. No fun....but I definitely found ways to make it work. I still find that warm or room temp works best for me. Good luck with your journey.

Liquids, liquids, liquids!!! Carnation sugar free, Pure Protein, Glucerna, etc......4oz Sipped on the hour (over 30-45 minutes), and 4-8 oz clear, sugar free liquids (includes, SF Jello, SF Popsicles, or fill an ice cube tray with Crystal light - or whatever you choose - with a toothpick in each cube) over the following hour.

My surgery was done 1/5/15, so still a bit sore - especially if I overdo things - and feel more comfortable with liquids at, or close to, room temperature.

Slow and steady, and plenty of rest! I do hope you begin to feel more comfortable. Best of luck!

Yeah different programs have different protocols. Mine was Full liquids>Purees>Soft Foods. I was on each stage for 2 weeks. By 6 weeks it was regular food as tolerated.

I put black Beans in the nutra bullet and pureed them, Then I strained out the skins and thinned it in a pot with some veg broth. I added a spoonful of FAGE 0% greek yogurt and a tiny bit of mashed avocado. I seasoned the Soup with a bit of garlic powder and cayenne powder.

Mostly I just played around with what I could puree and thin to a liquid.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
