A girlfriend of mine told me last Sunday they were having a sale in case I wanted to go... I very gently told her I don't have to shop there anymore... I'm now wearing an xlarge and large!!! She has been totally supportive through the whole thing however I don't think she liked that I said that . Oh well

I refused to shop there as I continued to gain weight. I refused to come to terms with the fact that I had gotten to the size where I needed to shop there, but I can't wait to actually stop wearing the same outfits over and over again

My last "none of my clothes fit. HELP!" panicked shopping trip happened at Macy's. Couldn't bring myself to walk through the door

I had no choice. Because of the type of job I do, I had to dress up nicely. I couldn't find anything nice and "modern" anywhere else. Regular stores have plus sizes, but my God, the kind of clothes they had was like grandma-ish or just looked like tableclothes to me. So Lane Bryant saved me for years and just in the recent year so did "The Avenue". The one place I refuse to shop at was "The Dress Barn". I draw the line to have to walk into a store called "Barn". I mean REALLY?

I think realization kicked in when I found myself ordering from Lane Bryant.com and getting my clothes in the mail because I was just so ashamed of walking in there and knowing I had to get the next size up. I was so in denial.

So yes, I can't wait till I call in and say thank you but no thank you!

For once in a LONG TIME I would like to walk into a normal store and be able to grab a shirt and know it will fit.

Yes....there is nothing like knowing you can shop anywhere BUT stores that cater to 14+ sizes. I still remember my first purchase. Way too big now, but such a sense of freedom and success! Honestly, it's one of the major things that motivate me now. I used to send my thin young daughter into those stores in the mall to check the sizes to see if they went up to a 14 when I was losing. I felt like I was a fraud trying to shop there, and didn't want to go in only to discover nothing would fit.

And here's another thing - once you get to goal, you can amass a wardrobe in one size and wear till worn out or out of style. You don't have to keep shopping because you need the next size up! It can be economical to be thin....or not, because shopping is so fun!

@@Pac-woman I went into Lane Bryant the other day and it really hurts my feelings that the cost of the clothes in there are so expensive! I mean $89 for one dress!!!! I did purchase some night gowns to be stylish after I have surgery! I bought three night gowns and the total was $67! Will be so happy when I can get a cute little shirt and skirt for $15 like my girlfriends do so often! I, like you have to dress professionally to work and I do shop at Dress Barn, but they are expensive as well! The non-plus size side has clearance prices that are wonderful! Can't wait to get over there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
