Anyone close to you against your tummy tuck?

Recommended Posts

So for some reason my boyfriend isn't too thrilled about my going to the plastic surgeon. I've come so far and I have a consultation with the surgeon in February and he keeps telling me I don't need to do this. He is so supportive with everything else but for some reason he gets so upset with the Tummy Tuck. I'm doing it either way but how do I get him on board?

I want one in about a year. How long have you been at goal and what are his objections? Also wondering if he is overweight?

I'm having the all the way around lower lift done on March 2. And the hubby tells me the same thing. I think he's worried about the surgery itself. But then he threw the getting a nice body comment in there and that I will want to leave him. But that's not why I'm doing it. I will be 9 years out in April and down 165 lbs I want this. I need this for me. Yah I'm nervous as can be but extremely excited also

My family is anti me getting another surgery (have had 14) and are anti me getting another degree (have 3). I don't blame them, they are worried for me and want me to be "there" mentally, emotionally & physically. I truly respect & understand where they are coming from so will do my best to tone and tighten through working out.

My family was worried and thought I looked good like I was. I did it anyway and they were supportive, but my parents have forbidden any more surgery. I'm 52, lol.

With all due respect, it's your body and your decision. He may never agree. His problem. Once he sees the happiness it brings you, maybe he will see it differently. Agree to disagree and move forward. Your life! Live it!

I had an abdominoplasty, amongst other plastics procedures, and it is AWESOME. I have never had a flat stomach. Even when I was thin, I always had a little fat roll around my lower tummy. I can now wear whatever I want and never worry that my flab is showing. I have gained a huge amount of confidence and I think that if I had a boyfriend who I was with during the whole weight loss process and through plastic surgery, he may have begun to feel a little insecure. I would coddle him a bit and understand now that you're hot, he might not feel as awesome himself, but in the end it is your body and your decision and if he doesn't like it, well then too bad.

Trust me, you will LOVE it, and your opinion is the only one that matters. :) Good luck!

My boyfriend kept telling me I didn't need it. About a month before surgery he realized I was gonna do it so he stopped discouraging me and became supportive. After I recovered he decided it was definitely worth jt!

My family were not against my surgery - My Mum was very worried about me. When we tried on my compression garment before my TT - My Mum was helping to 'tuck the skin in to it' and she really understood then that the skin needed to go.

After all the Ops - She still tells me how worried she was but has seen how the fabulous results have made me feel so much better about myself and given me self confidence I never had before

This decision is not about anyone else - They can be for or against but ultimately this is YOU - How you feel inside about yourself, and mentally - I am a whole new woman now! And I would do it all agian - ten times over to feel this much better about myself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
