Pre-Op Diet and not losing any weight

Recommended Posts

I've been on this lousy liquid diet for what seems like forever now and I'm stuck at an 11lb loss. I still need to lose 7 more lbs in the next 5 days. I'm terrified if I don't lose the weight my surgeon is going to cancel the surgery. I don't know what to do. I'm sticking to the diet and not going off of it at all. I was at 260 then dropped to 249 then went up to 253 for a couple days then back down to 249 now for the last 3 days and have just been stuck. Any help is appreciated.

Drinking Boost (240 cal) 4 times a day(this is what was prescribed to me by the surgeon)

Water and sugar free sweet tea throughout the day.

Thanks,

Tina

Are you getting any exercise? A little bit of exercise that's different from normal might shake things loose.

Boost up the physical activity. Did your surgeon give you an ultimatum to loose a set amount of weight? If not, don't sweat it, the liquids are more for liver shrinkage and a shorter post-op recovery.

Hey, I am in a similar situation, my surgery is in the 27th of this month and my weight in is the 21st, still have to lose 4... If I reach a weight >210, then I start the liquid diet until surgery day. Good luck to you.

Yeah I was given an ultimatum that I had to lose the weight. I'm really stressing out. I have a hard time right now with boosting my physical activity because I recently injured my hip and am hobbling around on it and also dislocated my shoulder just yesterday trying to get a box off down off a shelf ????.

Are you expecting your period? Mine is due in a few days I've only lost 6lbs... But I don't have to lose a set amount. If I were you I would go get some laxative meds and a diuretic pill. Make sure you are drinking plenty of Water (like, a gallon a day) Also cut out the sweet tea. Just water and your Protein Drink. Good luck!!

I just got done with an 8 mile hike in the pouring down rain. I think that counts as physical activity. ????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
