Gilmour 18 Posted January 16, 2015 I am scheduled for my first fill later this month, approximately 6 weeks post surgery. I don't want it yet. Part of it is fear (of being too tight, having reflux, getting stuck, etc.). The other part is that I think I am doing ok on the weight loss and changes to my eating habits. Of course I lost a lot of weight during the post-surg liquid diet, and since I have been on regular food I am continuing to lose (not as fast though). I am comfortable with this pace and don't want to mess with it. I am comfortble with the band as is (and yes I can feel it working). I am going to speak to my doc before the appointment, just just wanted to know what you guys thought. Is he likely to try to talk me into it?
enjoythetime 1,457 Posted January 16, 2015 No if you don't think your ready or need a fill you don't have to get one. Listen to your body and do what's right for you. You have a life time for fills if you need them:-) I will have been banded 2 years this May and my last fill was in July 2013. I don't want to be so tight that I'm miserable! Plus it's not healthy. Move at your pace and remember this is your journey no one else's! Congrats on the new band life style!
gowalking 10,790 Posted January 17, 2015 The doctor shouldn't sway you one way or the other. It's your body and you know if you need a fill or not. I haven't had any fills and I've been banded two years. I happen to have good restriction without fills. It's unusual but not unheard of. If you think you don't need one, don't get one. JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted January 17, 2015 Nope. Be your own advocate, explain why, and wait. And keep having success!! Go you!
