Non flavored protein powder

Recommended Posts

If you are unable to locate that, just wanted to pass on that Quest Nutrition has recently (in last month or two) come out with an unflavored Protein powder. Approx nutrition info per 30g scoop (about 4Tbs) -- Cal=100 Pro=23g. Available at Amazon, questnutrition.com, Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, etc. Careful about GNC--they seem very expensive. Retail most places seems to be $36-39.99 per 2 lb tub. Good luck finding what you're looking for.

If you can't find it, try the Trader Joe's unflavored soy Protein powder. It doesn't have a weird taste like a lot of the others and the best part is that its waaaay cheaper! I pay $12 for it vs. around $60 of the same size at GNC.

Someone had made comments about a non flavored Protein powder that is 30 grams of Protein in only 1 tablespoon. This either came from Amazon or eBay- does anyone know what the name of it is?

Just to be clear here, it's "the equivalent" of 30g of protein in that GENEPRO. You can decide for yourself if that's accurate. It's true that not all Proteins are created equal in terms of how much is absorbed into the body and how it is used by the body. So their claim that you are getting the benefit of 30g of protein in a tablespoon may be accurate, compared to some of the other protein sources available where the type of protein isn't absorbed well or utilized well by the body.

Jaimelogical is right, it isn't actually 30g of Protein because a tablespoon is itself only 15 grams and it doesn't take a mathematician to see you cannot get 30 grams from 15 grams. without imploding the universe that is. lol

I have a request in to them for a response and for taste test samples.< /p>

I use GENEPRO and really like it. I just received my second batch. It really does dissolve complete and doesn't affect texture or flavor of what you put it in. I do advise stirring before each sip if you're putting it in liquid, as it seems to settle a little if left untouched. I use it in my coffee each morning (I'm pre-op) and last night used a scoop in my tasty dinner of chicken broth. So long as you slowly mix it in while stirring (as opposed to just dumping the whole scoop at once) it has always worked fine for me!

As a side note - ordering directly from them is less expensive than Amazon, and i emailed customer service first they give me a coupon code (albiet small, but always good)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
