Higg blood pressure

Recommended Posts

It all depends what you like to eat and your kids. I cut down on carbs so much and no more processed foods etc. Try cutting down on carbs, sugar and salt before gb. Too much salt raises your bp. There's so many healthy recipes you and your kids would enjoy on pinterest. It's been a real change but so far my kids eat what I cook. If they want pizza. I make pizza at home with wheat dough and make myself a small one with the sand which thins.

So thank you Marissa. Lol funny but good thing is I've (for months) have been trying to change my diet slowly so it's not such a shock after gb..the past few weeks I think my body is giving me hints as it's ready to change. Like when I drink soda I start feeling sick and when I eat the stuff high in carbs and sodium my entire body aches.

My body is the same way. I stopped drinking soda and any kind of caffeine 2 months now. If I eat or drink anything that's high in sugar or carbs etc. I feel sick. I just eat small portions everyday Proteins, veggies etc. I usually have a smoothie for Breakfast. So far in a month I've lost 21 pounds

My pressure was nuts pre-op. I am a very anxious person and that plus a huge amount of stress plus being 120lbs over weight was going to kill me.

Once I got help for my anxiety and stress and started the WLS process, I was able to get it under control prior to surgery and stay off HBO meds but I noticed that it would still go up at doctor appointments....something they call "white-coat syndrome." I even went to the podiatrist a month or so after surgery and my BP was high...157/95 if I recall correctly. He took it again at end of appt and it was at 129/85. Once, about 5 months pre-op, it was as high as 199/110!!! Turned out I had pneumonia and my weight, stress and cold meds were causing it to be that high.

Since October 2014, though, it's been textbook perfect and the more I exercise, the better. If I catch a cold and need meds I only take Tylenol or CoricidenHB(sp?). I injured my knee pretty bad last month and took Mobic but not long. Taking Celebrex now but neither has increased my pressure.

The foods you eat, especially after surgery, should help big time with getting your pressure under control. I stick with whole foods for the most part. This allows better control over macros and micros so as to not over do sugar, salt, and bad fats. The Vitamins I take will help also.

Good luck and best wishes!

Yes I've heard of the white coat syndrome. I have anxiety and stress. Anytime I go into a doctors office or see a high BP monitor I get nervous. I hope it gets under control. I've cut out so much out of my food intake. I'm 120 pounds over weight so hoping the wls process goes along smoothly and my bp isn't high anymore well I pray it isn't

Went to doc today. Met 2 people that got the surgery not long ago. One was about 2 weeks ago and has lost 18lbs so far. The other was just this last Thu. Thu one said she didn't have any swrious pains from it not even gas pains. Lol said she burps alot tho. That made me more comfortable with knowing the pains, gas and all that is different from one person to the next.

Surgeon said he got the results of my surgery which were normal so all he has to do is send request to insurance for approval. Said it usually only takes about a week. After he gets approval the date of my new happier healthier life will be mad.

The lady that lost 18 in 2 weeks were even given pics of her surgery from the inside. Lol i don't think I'll want my pics.. did you get pics of yours?

Marissa I'm sure if you eat healthy, excerise as you can and take medicine id needed your bp will go done. I used to get nervous having my bp taken and being weighed too. Then I just thought how is getting nervous helping? Just calm down and accept it. If it's high I know I still need to make changes in my diet and if it's normal then keep doin what I'm doing. I wish the best for you Marissa and you to Tomi.

Likewise Marissa. I can't wait to run around and play with my kids and our dogs or be able to do simple tasks without sweating and stop being so tired all the time. We will all do as good as we want to do

Do I feel different when bp is up not when high but when gets above 200/100 I hear it in my ears and headache at times and short of breath at times. With med changes u should check it minimum of twice daily to see if right. I have had two changes now in a week n still not in range

I've had high blood pressure for about 7 yrs, mostly controlled by meds, but my doctor had me buy a home BP monitor and use it daily at first, now just occasionally. When I'm in the office and it's higher than it should be he asks what it's been reading at home. So he can tell whether it's just white coat syndrome or real, before increasing my meds.

Also, several years ago I went on Atkins. Within 2 weeks of cutting carbs down to 20 g/day, my BP went down enough to cut my meds in half. So if you want to see some quick improvement, I would count carbs instead of, or along with, calories. Cut out most fruits, grains, legumes and starchy vegetables entirely. Berries in small amounts, and melon such as cantaloupe, are OK.

I just had my first info meeting with the weight loss clinic earlier this week, meet the doctor and nutritionist next week.

I checked my bp yesterday and it was 168 over 80 then I calmed down and relaxed and went down to 146/70. So I don't know if it's cause I get anxious/ nervous. I take meds for my blood sugar where so far it's been good but yesterday I had a dizzy spell and my heart was beating fast so idk if it went down or what. It gave me anxiety so I had to take an anxiety pill. I don't know if it's stress or what but in tired of feeling like crap. I want to feel good and healthy like I once did

Marissa sometimes mine is high like that to where they have to take it a few more times. Between the pauses they talk to me about positive things. Each time they take it again its lower. That alone(at least with me) says it's the nervousness/anxiety that is making it high. Just do your very best on leading a healthy lifestyle. Know you will have ups and downs. As long as you treat your mind and body right I believe you will be ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
