highdesertblue 70 Posted January 16, 2015 Whew! I just got back from Phoenix and I got my nutrition consult, and psych eval finished. Now, I should hear back from the surgeon's office next week to schedule the pre-op. I am so relieved. It is a three hour drive each way, and the nutritionist was nice enough to fit me in after hours so that I wouldn't have to come back for an extra trip. I've ordered the Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder that my surgeon prefers for the two week pre-op diet. I found it online at BariatricFoodSource.com at the best price. I'm finally allowing myself to get excited since I've had some real highs and lows on my journey so far!
della street 213 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) @@highdesertblue Who are you seeing in Phoenix? I'm having surgery at Scottsdale Healthcare... Oh duh -- I see on your profile, Hilario Juarez -- St. Luke's, right? Edited January 16, 2015 by della street
highdesertblue 70 Posted January 16, 2015 Della Street, When is your surgery? If you haven't had your psych eval, or nutrition consult, I really liked the psychologist, Dr. Olin, and the nutritionist Michelle Berman. They regularly work with bariatric patients.Dr. Olin is in Tempe, and Michelle is in Mesa.
della street 213 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) @@highdesertblue RNY Jan. 29th -- at Scottsdale Healthcare, the nutritionist works for them, so that's really convenient. They have a psychologist that consults w/them, so saw him in their office. Almost a "one-stop-shop", lol -- I'm getting really nervous, but super-excited too! I've heard really good things about your surgeon, he's been doing this a long time -- Edited January 16, 2015 by della street

carolvalen 24 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) Doctor Juarez was my surgeon. Good down to earth. also got the drink from them. It was to thick for me. I ended up buying a Protein powder from the health food store. I couldn't keep drinking the bariatic advantage. It was like cake batter. P.s. I love St. Lukes. It may be an older facility but the staff are amazing. They took excellent care of me and still do. I get phone calls from my nurse checking on me. Good luck your in good hands.
