Ive heard that the gb can make diabetes disappear from you. Wondering how long that takes

I had type II and for me I was right after the surgery.

@@Susan33, I had bypass on 1/6. Before bypass, I was on medication for type II though not insulin. I left the hospital completely off all meds to control diabetes. I have been monitoring my glucose level 4x/day to see what happens, and so far the highest I've registered is 124. All others have been in the 90-110 range. So... right away, basically.

Thanks Cat,Mb, and Anaxila. I have type2, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I know the gb isn't a magic cure and that I need to change my eating and activity habits forever. I don't want to say tmi but I need help. I have tbi(traumatic brain injury) with short and long term memory loss from getting hit by car. So I don't understand things right away. My thing is I just need help on what I should eat and workout info. I have gym in apartments and I do the,leg weightlifts and arm weights(3 diff ways), bike for bout 20 min and elliptic for bout 5. Should I be doing more? Any info anyone has I'd appreciate. Thank you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
