laurenella82 625 Posted January 15, 2015 Has anyone ever used extracts to flavor their shakes? My mother suggested it and it sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure if it's okay to use them.
brokenangel84 35 Posted January 15, 2015 I've heard of sugar free syrups used in them.. I would call and ask the nut or the Dr and see what they say

brokenangel84 35 Posted January 15, 2015 I think I saw in here some where that it was okay but I'm not 100% on it..
CloverBlue 41 Posted January 16, 2015 I use them. I do not tolerate artificial sugars and do not want to switch bad habits for other bad habits (chemical laden artificial sugars), and I HATE the taste of stevia. I do err on the side of caution and use as little as possible because extracts typically contain 2-3% alcohol.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 16, 2015 I've used vanilla and almond extracts. You just need a tiny bit.
BeagleLover 1,020 Posted January 16, 2015 Extracts wouldn't be a problem at all.

blondiebabs 214 Posted January 16, 2015 I've been drinking fruit and green smoothies for years and have used them in those and just plain Protein drinks. I try to use pure extracts when available. Takes a tiny bit.

blondiebabs 214 Posted January 16, 2015 @@bellabill I've never seen banana extract but I'm sure they have it, I did see some banana stevia flavor drops on Amazon though.

sekm524 4 Posted January 17, 2015 I had surgery at Cleveland clinic in Weston Florida. The protocol after surgery is a tough one on what they allow. As long as the extract has no sugar they allow it. It helps when you need something new on the taste buds. I think the one I got was at whole foods. Banana flavor. I use it when I want a change in the shakes. The sugar free instant flavor coffees for great in shake also. I am now allowed caffeine again but find myself doing half calf a lot.
