BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)

Recommended Posts

I'd be very interested in the service (thank you for thinking of it!). I would do auto-renew on some items, but would also very much like the samples. I spent a fortune trying to find Protein shakes, Vitamins, and laxatives that I could tolerate. I would *much* rather have purchased items here than at a bunch of different places around the net.

Hi Alex, this is a good idea. I have spent a lot of time looking for the "right products to use" and you can tell from the board that there are a lot of questions about foods and Vitamins.

I use "UNJURY" Syntrax, Bell Plantation, Chike Nutrition and "Quest" for bariatric items. The quality piece is really important, especially when taking supplements and Vitamins.< /p>

I think it would be cool to have some kind of feature where we can rate the different products that you decide to sell. This could eliminate the need for all of the forums about "what's your favorite Protein shake" and "what Vitamins do you use".

I am very budget oriented. If i have one site to compare prices and see a variety of brands, I will definitely look to bariatric Pal first!

Definitely. I learned the hard way to shop around, and more sources are always useful. My favorite pre-mixed Protein Shakes are available at local grocery stores, but are almost half the price on Amazon.com...and thanks to Amazon I discovered that they are available packaged in juice-box-like "brick packs" rather than the plastic bottles at an even better price!

What's the brand name of these Protein Shakes please ?

@@Alex Brecher here are a couple of ideas:

It would be cool to have a sample box kind of like the way birchbox operates if you were going to do an "autoship" type of thing.

It might also be nice to be able to order supplies/supplements based on your surgery type. Not everyone needs everything or wants it and vs versa.

Another way to group or select items might be by phase or stage of surgery. Pre-Op; Post- Op; Weight Loss; Maintenance

I would include all kinds of things, not only "foods" but blender bottles, recipe books, other books, fitness gear things geared toward healthy living. scales, spoons, bento box lunch packs, freezer bags, Portion Control items.

I personally use Melaluca products .http://www.melaleuca.com/

I love their Protein powders, sports nutrition products.

So far I am using Syntrax nectar, and i just got the Bariatric Advantage for my pre-op diet. I should be getting my surgery date very soon. i would like to see offers for samples all in one place. I do have a question. I need the names of Protein bars that are NOT soy based. The soy doesn't get along with me very well. I am so glad that you are exploring the online store option. :)

Yes, would definitely be interested in seeing what was offered. Not so much into the automatic delivery per month.

I buy chewable Calcium from Celebrate, and also buy Bariatric Supplement=chewable Iron. I would also be interested in recipes. I buy Premium Protein Drinks from costco so not much interested in that unless you can beat their prices.

Thanks!!

I am just starting this process and am already completely confused by the variety of Proteins, Vitamins, etc. that people recommend. Standard advertizing gibberish from the manufacturers and the possibility of "fake" reviews on sites like Amazon don't help either.

I can very much see relying on a BariatricPal Store to meet my needs later this year when I hope to get surgery done!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
