Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve on 12/22/14 and it has been an interesting transition. My emotional struggles are getting better with cooking for the fam and not eatting. My birthday is on the 20th usually we would go out to eat and have cake this year will be very different.... How did you all Celebrate ur birthdays after being sleeved? Think I'm going to buy an outfit I hope to wear next birthday.... lBD anyone ????????

I went out and had steak / lobster and a glass of Champagne with several friends, instead of birthday cake I had a mini birthday cupcake. I might have eaten only a few bites of each, but enjoyed it just the same. It's nice when you can share a meal and costs with someone. I was three months out from surgery!

Happy Birthday in advance!

I've been wondering this as well. I was sleeved on 12/29 and my birthday is 1/28. I have no idea what to do to Celebrate. I'll only be 4 weeks post-op so I'll still be limited in what I can eat and drinking alcohol is out (which is typically how I celebrate). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Happy (early) birthday @Qtpie28!

I was three months out and had already lost a good bit of weight, and was myself on vacation.

I had family visiting that day, so happily cooked MY favorite dinner in a way I could enjoy eating it, and enjoyed the visiting even more than the food. Yes - definitely had cake, but I picked it out and made it what I really wanted - had a tiny piece and sent the rest home with everyone else.

Gift-wise I asked for money to go the the good running store in town and be professionally fitted with running shoes - which I love!

@@Qtpie28, I had prime rib two weeks after surgery, and believe me, it was the greatest thing in the world. All I can say is chew, chew, chew. But if that's too risky for you, there's some funky new runners out there that might hit the spot! Enjoy your birthday and enjoy your new life!

I did steak, shrimp for New Years...just a few bites if meat cooked medium and chew chew then a few shrimp. Waited awhile then shared a few bites of my sons dessert. I have things if I want just a few bites compared to plates. Eat out much less because the fun is over so fast ! A few bites and done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
