Your doctor should give you a list of recommended products. You can also try using the search feature on the forums. There are several active threads with loads of recommendations by the forum members.

My advice is to not stock pile anything. Your tastes in food usually change dramatically after surgery. I had to get an unflavored medical whey Protein isolate powder from my doctor because regular Protein Powder shakes made me gag. Your nutritionist will give you guidelines on what to eat and when. Listen to your body and good luck

Agreed. I bought enough Protein Drinks to last 2 weeks post-op. I then ordered more when I came home from the hospital. There are literally hundreds of Protein drinks, powders, liquids and shot. You may have to try several before you find something you can use.

I really enjoy the unjury chicken broth. My doctor's office had a sample I could try. You can always ask if you want to try first. I also bought one of several types of shakes- the Muscle Milk, Carnation powder, GNC, etc. All have sugar- you may want to ask your doctor for how many gms are allowed. My personal favorite is the GNC Lean Protein which is premade- I have no time or interest in making my own shakes so this works very well for me. Good Luck

premier Protein is hugely popular with lots of people. it is not sugar-free but it only had 1 gram of sugar per shake which is very low.

check out the food section on here. they break it down into subsections for post op folks! welcome to the site. you will be overran with knowledge and support!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
