I had my RNY surgery on 11/13/14 and just made two months post op. Start weight was 366 and now I'm at 297 as of 01/14/15. It was rough at the beginning. My cravings are still there but I try to push through it as much as possible. First two weeks I experienced severe Constipation and pain near my incision sites. Trying to get my Water intake is hard and I'm still drinking the Protein shakes to help with my Protein intake

Things are getting better for me with the help from my co-workers, friends, and family. Since I've been clear to workout I haven't signed up to a gym or health club yet. I walk on my treadmill and use my WII game everyday. Just Dance is a great for me while I'm indoors from the cold weather. It keeps me moving while keeping up with the latest dance moves lol.

It feels different to me now that I am seeing the weight fall off and my clothes are getting too big. People are noticing me more and my energy level is fantastic. No joint pain, no aches, and no more low self esteem. This is only the beginning for all of us and we will achieve are goals by staying encourage, motivated, and positive.

You go girl!!!!

I had my surgery on 11/11/14 and I'm doing fine too. I really feel good, and my clothes are starting to look pretty sloppy too. You've done terrific with your weight loss. I've lost about 47 lbs. so far. I wish it would come off faster, but until I get my butt into the gym it probably won't. I like the dancing idea. I love to dance and it would be a good way to get moving when I don't get to the gym to workout.

Keep up the good work!!! You should be very proud of yourself. I know I'm feeling better about myself than I did before I started this. I've got a long way to go, and it'll be a while before I can be more comfortable with my appearance, but I'm working on it. We're all in this together in this group and that's a great thing. There's some wonderful people here.

Hey there, glad to hear things are getting better for you. I had my surgery 11/04/14 and have lost about 65 lbs., I too am still having trouble with getting the proper amount of Water in and Protein and find I have very little energy and have a difficult time getting out and doing things. I had a co-worker ask me today if I regretted getting the surgery, I told her no, I knew it wasn't going to be an easy road, but I am looking to the future and being able to move around better and will in time get things right for my health.

Keep me posted on how your journey goes, would be nice to have some people to talk to that had surgery around the same time as me.

Don't forget girls, the Protein Shakes count as your liquids also. All three of you are doing great on your weight loss. I bet it will be less than a year and you won't believe how much weight you will have lost. And you can exercise just as well at home as in the gym. Just for the really cold or snowy days when you don't want to go out. Get an exercise band, a couple of 5 pound dumbbells, jump rope. Look online for exercises you can do at home, there are really quite a few. The treadmill is very good. Walking at intervals of 5 minutes fast then 5 minutes slow. Brings your metabolism up. Good luck to all of you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
