I begged Dr at my 4 week checkup & no dice. He said we'll revisit weights idea at 6 weeks. I was cleared for all other exercise though based on how I feel.

I was told the same thing...6 weeks, and I was dying to start using the weights!!! Now I'm lifting that much more, to try and gain back some of muscle lost during the weight loss process...it's much easier now, and much more fun!!!

I had surgery on 11/28/14, was just cleared yesterday for no weight lifting restrictions, so just over 6 weeks. :)

I am getting my surgery in Mexico and didn't know if they will tell me after I get my sleeve. I haven't even had my surgery yet but am gonna lift until my surgery and ride my bike. Maybe some of my muscles will be rediscovered

I think lifting up to surgery is a great idea. I had surgery at OCC in Mexico and they said 6 weeks. It takes the body 6 weeks to heal any injury so that may be why.

My Dr just cleared me to go back to gym with no restrictions.. just recommended that I use lighter weights and less reps that what I was used to..

My surgery was on 12/16/14..

I think it depends on the Dr...

my doc cleared me at 4 weeks to do light weights ... he said my guide should be if I experience any pain in my abdomen then I am doing too much ... I probably went to fast and too much, but, this now close to 3 weeks that I have been lifting weights and it is definitely helping ... 6 weeks is probably a good timeline, but, I guess each doc is different ... like diet restrictions ...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
