joatsaint 2,814 Posted January 14, 2015 It was normal for me, after surgery. I had a lot of pressure in my chest - from the leftover gas. I was dozing on and off between the nurses taking me for walks and/or checking my blood pressure. I was hitting the morphine button like I was trying to win a prize on a game show! Hang in there, it does get better. I promise. Welcome to the Loser's Bench.

ProjectMe 909 Posted January 14, 2015 Best way I can describe Day 1 is that it sucks. Day 2 is better & Day 3 was night and day. I know you probably don't feel up to it, but walking even for just a little bit helps move the gas...hope you feel better!
Tauruslady5 154 Posted January 14, 2015 The pain you are feeling is from the gas they put into your abdomen cavity before surgery. To make it better, stop taking the pain medicaiton and WALK, WALK, WALK. It took me three/four days before it was finally gone. I thought I was having heart problems, but it was not. Just relax and breathe......................
beachgurl84 456 Posted January 14, 2015 I think I even wrote my own post about how miserable I was the first two days. It sucks cause you can't roll over or adjust to get comfortable. Besides the pain you're just plain uncomfortable. It does get better though, I promise. Every day is a little bit better. One day you'll realize you don't have to stand up using weird angles because you don't have pain anymore, or you can bend over without cussing at gravity, or you can lay on your side or stomach without pain. BUT, it takes time to get there so take it day by day. The best part is while you are in all this pain, the pounds will be shedding off your first three weeks so you have something exciting to look for right away.
