I wonder if I can put off buying new clothes until I reach my goal weight.... 1st of all I need to establish a goal weight. I can't remember weighing anything but 123(5 months pregnant with my 1st child), 175 and 200 pounds (for years now)...I am 5'4 so maybe 135 would be good. #Just a thought

Funny how many sizes i have been while loosing. I look at pictures of me and the clothing is hanging and I had no clue. I could have never gotten away with not buying new workout pants. I have almost lost my pants at the gym. Good luck to you. A new clothing size is a good time to reward yourself. Enjoy!

It might depends how old your clothes are.

It's been a JOB going through old clothes I'd packed away and hadn't worn in years. Some I can now wear, and are still in style. Others are dated, with major shoulder pads, etc. Others, I'm going to have altered., and may take them in myself. The few pieces I took to the tailor cost a bit of cash! Hell, I know how to sew. I need to alter these things myself. Ain't nobody got cash for all this taking in of clothes. :-)

Before buying a bunch of stuff, I'd sort through old stuff and mix and match, trying to see what you can play with over the next few moths of weight-transition. Especially since it's winter.

I have bought a few pieces, including some hot size 12 slacks. Showing my ass. Hot, sexy mama. Whoop, whoop!

I have MANY nice, expensive clothes that I need to sell.

In fact...you just had surgery. I'd say don't buy anything new. You can hide out under clothes, and use belts, since it's winter.

Come spring, you can reveal a whole new you! You'd Probably wear some of your clothes you have, but you'll have great fun being able to wear sizes of which you'd only dreamed.

Save your money for now.

I'm cheap when it comes to jeans. I refuse to spend more than $10 on a pair of jeans right now. With tops, I am a little less careful of the price, because once they become too big, I can just give them to my mom.

I'm not spending big bucks on any clothes until I get down. I've been shopping at our local goodwill, they have fantastic Clothes! I was a size 18 on the day of surgery 11/3 10 weeks later I'm a 12 so nope, not going to waste my moolah!

I'm buying as little as possible. I had a wadrobe that spanned size 18 - 30 so I'm digging into the stuff I haven't worn in years, but I'm also wearing some things a little baggy. My swimsuits for Water aerobics needs to be replaced. I'm going to buy one and just deal with it. I have 3 sports bras on heavy rotation. My winter dress coat drags the floor, but my casual coats still work. I foresee a lot of making do, wearing belts and thrift shop purchases in my future.

I live in Florida so I have a Little more variety of things that I can wear. I can put on tanks and a jacket. My jeans were all too tight anyways. I work at home and just purchased a weight lift set, exercise bike, and resistance band. I hope to get most of my workout at home. I do need to find something to do socially. I moved from Indiana and don't know anybody here. I get a little depressed now with staying in the house. I need to get out more because I heard WLS in itself can cause depression.

Goodwill, thrift, consignment. You can buy outfits that will flatter your figure, make you look and feel great and be gentle on your wallet for a few bucks if you shop smart.

Enjoy the journey!

@@kimdlawson06 Yep!! I've lost most of my weight in my waist, hips and butt! Of course thats depending on the jeans. Those where some Jlo jeans I bought I also got old navy and they were 14 just depends on the jeans. I don't weigh my self very often but I did on Monday and had lost 8 lbs in a little over 2 weeks. I didn't feel like I had lost more but my husband said he could tell. I'm also tall so that helps! 5'9 Although I feel like I'm getting shorter...it's weird, or maybe it's just because I'm smaller that I feel that way? I will take whatever!

I am almost 5'4" and my "ideal" weight would be 135. But I'm not sure if that will be my goal weight or not. Right now I have my personal goal set at 175. When I talked with my suregeon we decided to see where I felt comfortable.

Last time I lost a good deal of weight I got down right under 200 and I felt wonderful! So we will see.

As far as buying clothes, I am having a ball shopping. I have been shopping the malls, local thrift stores, ebay, my own closet and a Facebook group called FatToo. (I know not a great name but they have a few different sites for above an 18/20 and then below an 18/20) I have sold on there and bought on there.

I am big believer in wearing the right size clothes if you can. You feel so much better when your clothes fit properly. Even if you get a few pieces it's worth it. The funny this is I had been making sure I had clothes that fit properly that the one day I was trying on tops with my daughter she was like "Mom you need new bras, those are to big!" LOL I knew that but it's hard to find decent deals on good bras, so I was waiting on those.

Plus for me I am in AZ and have lived in jean capris, black tshirts and my flip flops for the last 3-4 years. I used to hate when we had a cold winter and God forbid I had to put on a pair of jeans. UGgghh! But this year going from a size 28 (very tight) jean size to a comfortable size 20 I am loving it. I actually want it to stay cooler longer since I know I have clothes to wear. It is so weird to me! LOL

Good Luck on your journey!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
