How many Ounces of Food at 10 months post-op?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys and Girls!!

Happy New Years!

So I have a quick question. I am 10 months out. I have lost at total of 85 pounds. I was wondering how many ounces of food should I be able to take in or should take in at this point in my journey?

Well, I'm not as far along as you are, but I use my restriction as my guide. When I'm done I'm done. Were you given any guidelines? I ask because at my first NUT appointment she told me I will basically be eating a half up. I can't eat that much as yet. When I get the full signs, I stop, or I will pay!

Not meaning to split hairs, but there is how much you CAN versus how much you SHOULD be taking in. :)

Sliders, I am quite sure I am a bottomless pit. If I were to dig into a bag of cheetos, no saying when I would be "full" - ha - possibily never so I don't.

If you are starting with dense Protein and following with veggies, I recall you should be in the 3/4 to 1 cup range of volume at a time at a year out. If you get "full"signals before then - STOP. Eating small helps keep that feeling of restriction.

I've always been told that you should never go beyond 3/4-1 cup of food at a sitting.

I eat everything on a small tea cup size saucer. I think it is 4 ounces or something close to it. I believe I can take in a little more but I don't. If it doesn't fit on the saucer, I don't eat it. This has been a good measuring tool for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
