Weight watchers

Recommended Posts

Does anyone go to weight watchers and follow the program after having sleeve surgery? I am 8 weeks post op, have lost about 25 lbs, but having a very difficult time on my own following a plan, still gave man craves for sweets and carbs. Is weight watchers a suitable plan? It is nor strictly high Protein. The weekly support and weigh ins would help a lot, is theb

program doable for this type of surgery?

Thanks!!

I've never looked too closely at Weight Watchers, but most of the ladies I work with follow WW on and off. It seems to me they eat a lot of processed carbs, as well as non processed carbs. How much Protein they eat, I'm not sure about.

From my own experience, processed carbs/fruit/and anything with sugar will cause me to have head hunger and cravings. After surgery, I started slipping into old habits. And I started noticing I was hungry when my stomach was full. I started tracking what I ate and found out the even eating good stuff like apples would cause me to have head hunger.

You might start noticing how often you become hungry (real hunger vs head hunger) and what you've recently eaten.

I have to stick to a high protein/low carb diet to lose or maintain my weight loss.

Hi I haven't been sleeved yet (hopefully soon!) but I was wondering if your surgeon has a support group that you could attend or if they have a dietitian that you could contact to help you with your plan? :)

@@Wmc1231 I always ended up buying the frozen dinner and of course they are high in carbs and sodium! I personally follow more of a "Atkins type" diet.

I did WW's back in my 20's and was really successful with it. Back then it was real food and the weekly meeting were really helpful if you had a good facilitator. I tried it again many year later when they had developed this points system and it was all fake, process food full of carbs/sodium and fake sugar. I am no longer a fan. I second the recommendation to try and locate a Bariatric support group in your area. Use the search feature here o r ask if you hospital provides one.
