I'm kinda disappointed

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done on December 10 2014. Everything went very well. I'm not in any pain. Since it's winter, I'm been sitting around the house not doing much. And I only lost 12 pounds. I thought I would have lost more than that in a month.

I'm kinda disappointed.

Everyone is different, it depends on your starting weight and like a million other personal things. Everyone is so different. I know I started at 334 and the first 30 fell right off. Since that though, these past two weeks I'm barely moving at all. I just remind myself that every stall or loss is still better than gaining and try to keep positive from there. Stay strong. You will see results. :)

I had my surgery performed on 11/21/14. To date I have lost 56 pounds. I loose about 2 pounds a week. Which is usually a normal.

It is harder to exercise in the winter, but you can buy a video or watch Youtube and find a video you can do inside.

You just had the surgery, give yourself a year to loose what you want. My ultimate goal is 150. I have until November to loose it. I don't expect it to drop off in three months......

Get up and move! Not only is sitting around bad for you, it very well could be slowing down your weight loss. Take advantage of this crucial weight loss period to develop better habits to get healthy. You know what you need to do. And congrats on the weight loss as of now! Now go kick it into high gear!

Maybe you should get up and move.

FYI, I lost 10.4 pounds my first month post-op. And I was moving.

I was sleeved on Dec 27th 2012 - it was a cold, rainy 2 weeks after surgery, so I didn't get out and walk like my doc told me. I just paced around the house.

On those times when I was disappointed (when I thought I wasn't losing fast enough) I tried to remember how fast I wasn't losing weight before surgery. I tried to remember how (pre-surgery) I would have been ecstatic to lose even 1/2 lb a month, as long as I was going down.

Hope this helps, and try not to compare your weight loss rate to anyone else's. We all lose weight at different rates - genetics, exercise, hormones, and diet all play a part in it.

Do some exercise videos at home if you don't want to get out.

My doctor told me NO exercise for 2 weeks, just walking arounf the house and light housework. Then weeks 2-4 aerobics only then 1 month check up prior to strength training. He wants me healed and fully adjusted to hydrating myself sufficiently and intaking no less than 60g Protein per day. If I don't learn those key milestones, my weight is not the issue. I am. Be kind to yourself. I haven't weighed myself since the day of the surgery because my doctor taught me my first month is for healing, resting, learning, adjustment and LOVING myself.

Get a pedometer or fitbit/jawbone/fuel band and aim for 10,000 steps a day. Walking at the mall is great, around your house, in a school, office building. This way you can track your steps and keep motivated to move. At first you may not get close to 10,000 but it will motivate you!

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

The Sleeve won't do all the work for you. You have to eat right and yes you have to exercise. Have you thought about joining a gym?

When is the last time you lost 12 pounds in one month? Are you meeting your Protein and Fluid requirements? Are you exercising? What's your plan to help increase your weight loss? Sitting around the house not doing much will not help you lose. Get up and get moving. WLS is a tool, not a magic wand.

I'm so glad I read this. I was sleeved on Dec 29th and only lost weight the first week. I'm walking and taking all my Protein. On my third week now so I'm hoping to at least lose a pound or two.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
