boosh10 98 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) Right after surgery... Is the pain like incision pain or deep inside abdominal pain? And anyone who has gotten gallbladder removed WAY BEFORE the WLS surgery.. Is the pain similar to that?? Edited January 12, 2015 by boosh10
ORsleeveMom 5 Posted January 12, 2015 I had my gallbladder removed in 2010 and had sleeve surgery in December 14. My pain right after surgery was really only in my large incision. I have not really had any pain from my stomach besides a mild discomfort when I drink or eat too quickly. I would say the gallbladder pain was fairly similar but I have had a little more pain in my largest incision than I did in any of my gallbladder incisions. joatsaint 2,814 Posted January 12, 2015 I never really had incision or stomach pain. It was more of an intense pressure. When I woke up in the recovery room, I knew exactly how the guy in 'Alien" felt - right before the critter popped out of his chest! But I'd do it all again in a second!! imsoglad56 402 Posted January 12, 2015 For me, gallbladder (7 years ago) was way worse. After sleeve surgery, I didn't really have much pain at all and what I did have was mostly just the gas pain. My incisions were very slightly tender, but not really painful. I couldn't even tell you which incision was the one they removed the stomach through because none of them really hurt. And I had no deep abdominal pain at all. I was one of those who wondered if the surgeon actually did anything because my stomach never hurt. Still never has. Realistically, I know he did because I can't eat much, but as far as bring able to feel it? Nope, not a bit.

Babbs 14,681 Posted January 12, 2015 I feel the opposite. I don't remember waking up from my gall bladder surgery in pain, and I was with the sleeve. My right side where the big incision was...OUCH. After I got meds, I was good. Just minor discomfort for a couple days after. No biggie
mentalistfan 189 Posted January 12, 2015 The first few days it felt like I did a lot of sit-ups, I had more soreness on one side. I had a few spasms for a week or so after surgery but I didn't take pain medicine after I came home from the hospital.
bigbang52 21 Posted January 12, 2015 I guess I was lucky. I used the pain meds at the hospital once and that was so I could get some sleep. They keep you up half the night going for walks and taking blood. Told the doctor later that I have had worse paper cuts. Didn't have any campaigns either. Reality was much better than my fears.
