sh1211 38 Posted January 12, 2015 I find myself wondering if it's fine to use V-8 juice as your source of getting in all of your vegetables or is it a complete no-no? Would it be okay once in awhile, all the time, or never? If not V-8 juice then how about homemade vegetable juice? Just curious what everyone thinks about this topic and/or what your doctors have said about it. Thank You, S.
Steviefan1 126 Posted January 13, 2015 In my opinion, beloved V8 juice is a no-no early out. I absolutely LOVE it; however, (one serving 11.5oz can) even low sodium, has too many carbs (15) and too many sugars (12). I am still slightly diabetic, and even 4 ounces of it raises my blood sugar too much, usually in the mid 200's. If your NUT says you can have 2 or 3 ounces, then it may become a choice for you. I'm not sure about any homemade varieties.
Lebim 381 Posted January 29, 2015 Nothing beats the real thing. I'll always vote real veggies over juiced, not only because it's a lot healthier but because they will fill you up a lot more and longer than any liquid will. If you're at or around the weight you want to be then it's okay to indulge once in a while if you really enjoy drinking it [i love the stuff too] but that's just it - it should be a nice treat - not in any way your source of vegetables. It's really not nearly as good for you as advertised. Is it better than soda or another sugary beverage? Hell yes, and that's what you should have if you're craving something bad for you as a healthier alternative - but that's it.
