Almost 6weeks out rant

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Dec 4th. My starting weight was 334. I am currently at 296 and holding. I'm at my first stand still and it's driving me crazy. The weight is coming off from my legs and face but not my hips. This is causing my pants to not change at all in fit. It frustrates me that I can't wear jeans still. I am slightly bigger than a 28 and am just anxious to get down to a decent fitting 26 so I can get back in cute jeans!!! Of course the idea of an end result of non plus size clothes is even better. Does anyone else have a hard time imagining the surgery working to slim you so much? I've never been thin. I guess in my head it was decided years ago I Never would be and now it's hard to change that.

Step away from the scale. It will drive you nuts. Work the program, get your Protein and fluids in. Exercise 3 - 4 times a week. The weight loss will happen.

I started at 287 and it wasn't until I lost 75 pounds that I started to notice a difference and my waist changed enough for me to start wearing non elasticized pants. If you are like me and your abdomen is your biggest trouble zone just be patient, like everyone stated it will happen. That's a fantastic loss considering you just had your surgery in December. Celebrate it!

I can sympathize with you! I lost 10 my first week...then only like 4 lbs over the next 4 weeks! I was shocked because I was hardly eating. I felt horrible but after week 5 I got into a steady loss cycle. I only get on the scale every 7 - 10 days and I stay away all the other days. I was obsessing about the scale and it was not good. Now 12.5 weeks post op I am down 63 total from my highest weight. Hang in there! Don't get discouraged it really has not been that long. I know it feels like that number should be moving faster - I do know! Keep drinking Water, get your Protein, exercise...take your vitamins!

@@LaTerica Musa - You haven't failed. If you read the forums you'll see that it's common to only be able to eat small amounts. You probably need to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day instead of 3 bigger ones. Plan for it. 63 lbs is not failing.

I'm 8 weeks out and proud to say I officially hit 50 pounds lost today. That being said, I only see a difference in my thighs, boobs, and some of my butt. My waist & hips have not changed at all. So in some ways my pants are baggy, around the thigh area especially, but because my waist & hips haven't changed I can't go down to a smaller size yet. So I agree, totally frustrating.

I was sleeved October 21, 2014. I weighed 234 the day of surgery. I'm only 215 now and I had to fight like hell to get that weight loss. In fact, it's been a month since I lost anything. So, I'm pretty sure the surgery was a waste of time. There is no need for you to be upset... It could be a lot worse!

Same thing happened to me. I lost alot of upper/inner thigh size, my quads and calves slimmed even more, back fat, arm fat, face fat, and even belly fat all shrank. HIPS? Nope. Actually, they HAVE gotten smaller because I wear a much smaller pants size but they are still the prominent thing on my body.

I have found that they are getting more muscular though because of exersice. So there is hope! Don't get discouraged. Remember, everyone is different and our body lets go of things differently. Pretty soon you'll be past this and well on your way to goal! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
