Happens here every night......usually potato chips, pecan sandies, or Peanut Butter sandwiches. I just make sure that I am already full of my permitted foods so that I am not tempted. I keeped boiled eggs, tuna salad, cheeses, nuts, sometimes meatballs on hand so that I have a

"go to" available. The smell of the potato chips is the hardest to resist, but I do allright. Sometimes at bedtime I will have yogurt with berries or a cup of hot cocoa. That helps to fill me up.

Offer him something he want in return. It's not optimal, you want him to just do it for you, but doing it so you let him skip lunch at your parents, or have a golf outing with his friend, or whatever he wants within reason, might be the best way to show him how important it is to you. And then use positive reinforcement. He eats in the other room, you say thank you and be a sweetheart.

Just my 2 cents.

it doesn't bother me when someone is eating something that is not the best for me. I don't know if it is because I am still almost only 3 months out and I feel I doing pretty good. I want to work this took that I have been given for all it is worth and get the best bang for my buck (well my insurances buck....lol) as long as I can.

I knew before I went into this that there would be plenty of times that things like this would happen. I told both my husband and my daughter that they could not worry about eating in front of me. I know in the beginning it was hard for both of them. But the changes that I am making have brought positive changes into the house also. My husband we always called the cookie monster, he loves Cookies. Now when we grocery shop he doesn't even pick them up, he says if it is not in the house I won't eat it. Now for one thing he does not have a weight problem, and second he does still get his sweet fix here and there. We as a family have made positive changes. It's funny but both my husband and daughter use the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein to make shakes with on an almost daily basis. LOL I don't even use it anymore, my husband just had me reorder the vanilla and chocolate splendor.

I am only 2 weeks post surgery. I went into this knowing and accepting the reality that I will have to deal with other people getting to have the goodies. My husband would have no problem snacking in the other room. I would rather has his company. This is my choice to make these changes for me. I can deal with the smell... Actually the smell of anything greasy is gross. I even went out for Mexican food with my hubby and my son and his family. I took a big thermal mug of hot beef broth. I enjoyed the company and was proud of myself for not feeling deprived. Who knows, next week I may want to hurt someone for eating goodies in front of me. All I can do is take it one day at a time.

I drink my Protein Shake close to bed time so I am not so tempted by everything else. It is easier to not want it when your pouch is full!

My mother, a very health-conscious 73 years-old, loves reminding my 74 years-old dad that he can keep on eating crap so long as the very hefty life ins policy is paid up. Lol but that's their sense of humor.

Maybe tell hubby you would like him to start eating healthier because you really do want to grow old with him?

I tell folks that too...to please don't refrain on my behalf. That's because I refuse to be THAT person who judges someone for eating something they enjoy. I grew up with a mother who did exactly that and it greatly contributed to the toxic relationship I had with food. I especially keep my mouth shut because I am the type to say "no one asked you!" and I so I give the same berth to everyone else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
