I has surgery on 9/30/2014 and have felt wonderful up until a few days ago. I have 0 energy, all my bones ache and I am freezing. At first I thought I was getting sick, but now I'm wondering if it is from a lack of carbs or a Vitamin deficiency. My blood results came back perfect 2 weeks ago. I only take a bariatric multi vitamin. Help! I'm miserable :(

@@unsupersizeme Wow it could be a multitude of things. Maybe you caught a virus. I don't know your nutritional status so no clue there. Are you getting in enough food, liquids and Protein?

Sounds like the virus that has been going around. I felt that way for a week before it hit me full on.

Sounds similar to what has been going around where I live, seems like the majority of my coworkers have had it the past few weeks. I caught it the week of Christmas and had been pretty run down and feeling terrible for 3 weeks, this weekend is the first I've felt human since it started. I would get cold chills to the bone and could not warm up no matter what, I finally went to the dr and it turned out to be bacterial and had to get antibiotics.

Hopefully whatever is going on passes soon! But if it doesn't seem to improve don't hesitate to contact your dr and see if they think you should come in.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
