FortKnox78 109 Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) Hey all, back on November 28, 2014 I smashed my shin against a step and it caused a mild case of cellulite. I was prescribed a high dose of an antibiotic on 2 different occasions which has eliminated any infection I assume. However, there is still a baseball sized spot on my shin (see pic). My question is if anybody has had this and if this would prevent my February 10th surgery date? Of course, the doctors would be able to tell me but am curious of other's experiences. Thanks!! FortKnox78 109 Posted January 11, 2015 Not cellulite...cellulitus (I can't stand auto correct)
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 11, 2015 Are you still on the anti-biotic? The cellulitus should be cleared up by February. You've still got time. Closer to the date make sure you make the surgeon aware of any meds you're still on. They should be able to perform the surgery but you want to let them know so there aren't any counter-interactions with the anesthesia and pain meds they give you for surgery. Elode 8,093 Posted January 12, 2015 @@FortKnox78 If your already on antibiotics and have no signs of infection you should be fine.

Workmans comp wants me to go back to the Dr. Just to make sure. It was quite large. I've had 2 different doses of the same antibiotic. I just hope and pray this doesn't set me back yet again. BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 12, 2015 Just watch it closely to make sure it clears up. By the 30th if it doesn't like it's gone away contact your PCP and make sure your bariatric team is aware. Better a delay then a serious complication during on post-op.
