Itz Time 0 Posted May 25, 2007 Just had lap banding yestrday. Feeling okay. Very sore when I get up from a sitting position. Really don't know what to expect from here. I mean I know that I will get fills, etc., but what else to experience? Any one with experiences they can share? I have had absolutely know problems getting my liquid down. In fact, I feel like I could eat a full meal (I won't) but feel that I could. Will this feeling change after my first fill? Thanks for any comments anyone has for me. LilMonkey 0 Posted May 26, 2007 I just got banded myself (on the 21st), but welcome aboard the band wagon! It's my understanding that after the surgery there is no restriction at all, so you will feel like you could eat normally. It's up to you to control your intake while waiting for your first fill. (Obviously this isnt much of an issue right after surgery) Once you do get filled though, you should start to feel restricted. Anyone who's been banded for longer want to add? Itz Time 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Plus I heard, or I have been reading, that a lot of people do not have their first fill for three to four months, is that right? So, if that is true, we aren't restricted during that time? Why would they wait so long? Ohhh, so many questions.......
LilMonkey 0 Posted May 26, 2007 I think it's most often 6 weeks from surgery, but it could vary with your surgeon. I think they wait so long to give your stomach a chance to heal up nicely. This way the band has less chance of slipping. Once it's nice and healed they can do the fill and start with the restriction. Just look at it as an opportunity to practice chewing everything to death before you can really mess up your new pouch while restricted.
