Hello all! ????

So I'm on the puréed stage and my nutritionist said I can eat anything I can eat anything I can purée. Well, I can't wait till tomorrow to call & ask her so here's my question:

I seriously love Beans so I made chilli w ground turkey, vinegar peppers, & Beans. I also made black beans & garbanzo Soup w 98% fat free ham steak, puréed everything.

It taste soooo good I almost feel like I shouldn't be having it, lol.

Is it okay to have two 6 onz of this a day?

Enjoy it, but don't push hard on the volume. Your stomach is nowhere close to being healed at this point.

And it does sound delicious. :)

Beans are fine but they are heavy at that stage. I could only eat 2 oz at that point.

Sure you can! My first pureed meal was refried Beans with some crema on top, and it was heaven!

That being said, I agree, I would reduce the size of your meals to 2 to 3 tablespoons per meal. Let your stomach have room to handle this much food, and you will feel so much better as a result. At least, that was the case for me. My eyes and mouth want a big bowl of whatever, but I've learned that tiny bits are quite filling, and I don't have screaming bellyaches afterwards.

I have to admit that I really was resistant to Portion Control. That was what all those other stupid diets were about, right? And they didn't work, right? But now it is not about losing weight, it's about listening to your body. So, I'd suggest you take small amounts in a tiny bowl with a little spoon, eat that, wait a while, and only go back for more later on if you are genuinely hungry. This makes eating a whole lot more of a pleasure, believe me!

How far out are you? The chili sounds fine and Beans are a good source of Protein. However the nutritional breakdown of various Beans makes a big difference. For example 1 cup of black beans has 116 gms carbs, 4 gms fat and 17 gm sodium & 39gm Protein. Whereas 1 cup of chickpeas has 121gms carbs, 12gms fat, 48gm of sodium for that same 39 gms of protein. Neither is a bad thing, especially since it is a complex carb, especially when you are a vegetarian like me and need the protein. However, you also have ground turkey and ham in that chili so I'm pretty sure you aren't a vegetarian. ;)

In short, maybe limit your daily serving of that chili to once a day.

First, I love when i find your comments. You know so much, lol.

I am 3 weeks out. My nutritionist says aim for 2 Protein shakes w 1/2 banana & two 6 onz puréed meals a day. Oh & the ground turkey is in the chilli & the ham is in the black bean Soup.< /p>

@@Marielbx Thanks for the compliment. I have multiple food allergies and one of the things that helped me was learning to read food labels and the macro-nutrients in food. Sorry I misread your post. I was thinking this was one big batch of chili. That's a lot of food for week 3. Are you able to get in your Water around all that food?

However I still think you should choose only one of those a day. Since you are eating 4 small meals a day perhaps look for them to be a little lighter. You're going to hit your Protein on the shakes alone. I wouldn't have more then 3- 4 oz of whatever Soup you choose. Then maybe make that last meal really simple like a soft scrambled egg or yogurt if you like that sort of thing.

Yes, I agree. Im going to make it just one of these. I'll confirm w my nutritionist on the amount of onz.

And now that u say it, no.. I'm no where near drinking all the Water I should and I am definitely going to change this so that I can.

That's what I love this app. Talking to people and their experiences you learn more about what not to do.

I guess that I was so focused on getting all the Protein in I forgot the water

I was wondering. I'm nearly 4 mths and I have a glass of eater when I wake up, a Protein shake for Breakfast, a small meal typically 4-6 ounces for lunch. I think spend most of the afternoon drinking Water and then another small meal for dinner and I am stuffed. No way could I eat all of that AND drink at 3 weeks out.

Getting your Water in will also help with Constipation.< /p>

At three weeks I was transtioning from purees to soft. My volume then was 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons, and I could never finish the last bite. Even at a year now, 6 liquid ounces is enough for about three hours for thick Soups or casseroles. Or I can now eat 2 solid ounces of Protein and 1/3 - 1/2 cup veggies.

I am officially 8 weeks out, and I still can't finish most of my food, even in small portions. You're right, I think I drink myself full with all of that Water, leaving little room for anything but my allotments of Protein and veggies. I carry a liter bottle around with me everywhere, and I am always amazed at how fast it gets empty.

I hate to repeat myself from other posts, but if you're not all that in to Water by itself, don't add flavorings, but rather get some good tasting bottle water. I've found that if I add Crystal Lite and so forth, my tongue expects sweetness at all times. But now that I just drink plain old H2O, I don't crave sweets much anymore. One more addiction down!

Your surgery date says October, is this correct? My surgery was Dec. 16th and I graduated early from pureeds. I can eat 4 ounces of puréeds...although I limit myself to 2-3. I couldn't even imagine 6 ounces unless I ate it over two hours. Regarding getting enough fluids, which Im having trouble with...my nutritionist said that instead of 2-3 small meals a day, that I need to cut it down to 1 small meal a day and increase my Protein Shakes which do double duty (protein & fluids). His advice really helped me get more fluids in even though I'm kind of tired of Protein shakes.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
