Oh my word. I have had a rough week of crappy food and feeling even crappier. I have had problems sleeping, and when I do sleep, it's terrible quality. I know this affects my appetite and decision making. I have not made the best decisions lately!

Today has been okay, but the days prior to today....well, let's not dwell on that.

I worked out Monday and planned on it Wed. and Fri., but then was informed on Wed. that I have a workshop after school Wed, Thurs, and Fri. Thanks, boss! I am a creature of habit and also a homebody, so throwing this in my schedule with no notice just stresses me out. I need to grow up!

B - coffee

L - grilled chicken house Zalad from Zaxby's, no friend onions and 1 packet of dressing. Pretty low carb- less than 10

D - 2 eggs and 4 slices of bacon - 2 carbs

Water - check

2 coke zeros - check, trying to get that under control

chai tea - check

Great day on target for food and exercise. I still can't believe I'm walking every day at lunchtime and enjoying it.

I really really wanted my favorite carby Thai food today but I didn't give in. I had a salad and a piece of chicken Kiev instead. Tonight I boiled up some eggs to have a quick Protein on hand tomorrow.

Went to a CoDA meeting tonight. Feeling good about my choices this week.

I've never done a 5k before. I saw one advertised in Chicago that looks intriguing. My question to those who have done them: is it universally okay to walk instead of run or does it depend on the particular race? I absolutely can't run with these knees. But I can walk for sure. Thoughts?

Hey peeps, Late wed night I got a call from the boss that said to pack for a couple days me and another guy was headed to the ky on a secret emergency mission.lol. so we have been moving jet fuel within the airport. So we have been up for 30 hours. We are headed to the motel and will be home tonight. Back to our reg deal tomorrow. We split a ham n cheese samich about 10 last night.. (someone forgot the cooler and their cell at the motel.) Oops. Back on track in the morning.

Ugh, just lost my long post. @@bacon you probably needed some Protein about then, fuel for moving fuel around. Fun window into another world. @@ParaGirl sounds like you may be a teacher. If so, hat's off to you. It is not an easy time of year. I hear you on the poor sleep, energy and decision-making. I've had some insomnia lately and trouble functioning. A lot of emotional stuff going on just now but the work stuff has to be done, too. Find myself freezing up at the keyboard at just the wrong times. @JusWatchMe, I did a 5k last summer and walked it along with a lot of others. Met some nice people and we had fun. Thanks for the reminder I want to do that again and find some others to fast walk. Metric is such a bonus here -- 5k is just a few miles, lol.

Today's accomplishment I am proud of is about my new perception of a stumble. I'm putting together a box of birthday gifts to mail to my brother-in-law and acquired some Trader Joe's caramels to include. Peanut Butter dark chocolate salted caramels, what? That was nuts. I already know Peanut Butter, for me, is the devil. I can't have it in the house. Last night I opened them and had a few. So now not only do I need stuff for the birthday box to fill it up but I have "slipped." I was just starting that berate myself kind of thinking when I realized that in the old days I would have eaten the whole package. I was a finisher. It turns out that having a few pieces of candy satisfied whatever urge that was and because of my band and new approach to life I felt no compulsion to finish off those caramels and then go look for more food. The reason I did that on my former life is that I was so restrictive. On a diet -- rigidly so -- or off a diet (better scarf up what I can as I will be back on tomorrow). Every one is different but for a restricter eating a few pieces of candy turns out to be an accomplishment I'm proud of rather than something to beat myself up about. Sorry for all the psycho-babble.

Today's goal three of my cranberry aloe Water bottles and big Protein lunch. Salmon. We are going out this evening and that could be a little graze-y (a friend's sixtieth birthday, yikes). I will take a fourth bottle of cranberry aloe with me to drink there.

@@Bandista, I'm a finisher too. Heck I am a buy-two-one-for-you-and-keep-your-hands-off-mine finisher. Pre WLS I knew I was done when the food was gone. Binge eating does not begin to describe it. I would eat until it's gone. Period.

Even now when I feel a soft stop I have to will myself to stop. It's getting easier but that's because I practice it more. It's not a natural behavior for me to stop even when I am uncomfortable. Thankfully I don't get to the discomfort stage very often anymore. I haven't been even mildly stuck in awhile.

When I give the dog part of a morning egg or part of an evening piece of meat, it feels like I am walking in a world that normal people have always known. I need to tell myself each time that, "This is what I do now. I don't overeat anymore."

Thanks for the reminder. I'm grateful for this change too.

Good Afternoon!!

Bracing for that 4 letter word again today on the first day of Spring!! Grrrrr. It's another busy busy day at work but I am finding some space in between meetings to keep accountable here as well :)

I am very much looking forward to spring I feel that light and airy feeling start to rise in my bones and it's just a wonderful feeling after what seems to me like a long constricting winter season.

Today I am working on creating a "gratitude" list. Starting with the letter A it helps me to remember that no matter how many things are going on in my life there are always many many things I have to be grateful for and it's not as bad as I might think...and putting it together usually makes me smile :)

TGIF!!

Me too, friend, me too. I still struggle at each meal. Heck, I'll do it even with a Protein shake. I have to will myself to stop at the 8 oz mark when I know I've got the other 8 in the fridge. Each meal, I portion out and then wait after I've finished to see if I'm battling demons or still truly hungry. 99% of the time it's the first. I'm also trying to get into the habit of leaving something on my plate, most of the normies I eat with do this and I want to eat as much like them as possible! Sure wish I had an OA in town...

@@bacon - top secret missions now, huh!?! Way to go on splitting that sandwich! VICTORY!

@@ParaGirl - eating off plan always leaves me feeling bad too. I think it's a combination of the junk making me physically yucky, but also the emotional feelings of remorse or guilt or something. Glad you're back on track today! Gottta love a principal throwing a last minute "I'm-gonna-use-as-much-of-your-time-as-humanly-possible". Heaven forbid you have time to make copies, plan lessons, etc.

Today has gone according to plan. My husband is sick with a cough and cold, so I know he won't want to exercise tonight. I went ahead and did an hour-long butt kicking today. Jessica Smith has replaced Leslie Sansone for now and she's a little more intense. Add the sore arm from the tetanus shot and those spiffy new ankle weights, and I got my tail worked today!

Eating plan:
B- 8oz shake w/fiber
L-yogurt w/fiber & 2 tbl homemade granola
S-8 oz shake w/fiber
D-homemade pizza
772c, 79p, 49nc
72 oz Water & exercise completed

I just made 96 meatballs for the freezer. I've seen some recipes lately that use them, so this way I've got them made-up and pre-cooked to make life a little easier. I froze them in meal-sized servings, so I hope it works.

You guys keep rocking! I gain so much insight and inspiration for your posts. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I'll check back later, Take care of you.

I'm a movin' and a groovin'! Lisa your list just made me happpppppy!

This week has been a crazy one. I think it's a combo of the nice weather. For our industry this seems to be when the flood gates open. I love staying busy and multi tasking but some days this week I wished I were an octopus, a pink one though:-)

I've been doing great on my food plan and my fluids are back on track. Feeling great with tons of energy, good thing because I've needed it this week!

I will be a super busy lady this weekend getting ready for spring and summer so I'll be going through the house and garage clearing out all the stuff we don't need. I hate clutter! Getting the yard in shape for my pretties to come back or at least I hope they do, I'm not a green thumb but every year I try. Last year I planted a bunch of perennials so I'm hoping they like their new home:-)

Today I'm super grateful that I no longer have to wonder if I'll be able to keep up with life's demands. I can do things now without first thinking about my ability to do them. It's great!

Todays plan

B: Yogurt and trail mix- 250 cal 17 p

S: Protein bar- 160 cal 20 p

L: 2 cheese stix- 160 cal 14 p

S: 100 calorie pack of Lorna Doones- 100 cal

D; Not sure, but something quick probably a weight watchers-??

S: Skinny Cow Ice Cream- 160 cal

S: Depending on how much work I do tonight I may need something so it will be a Protein bar- 160 cal 20 p

@s_suthers I love the meatballs, I may have to give this a go on Sunday.

Spring is off to a nice tomorrow and Sunday are suppose to be 78 and sunny, LOVE IT!

Just to clarify @@JustWatchMe @@s_suther The sandwich I split was because I forgot the cooler with our food. Another driver heard we had no food and gave up the ham n cheese. If I thought I could whip tony, I would have ate the whole thing. Lol. We are up and headed home.

Ha, so funny! A year and a half ago I could have put in a good fight for the right sandwich, held up my end anyway -- sure wouldn't have wanted anyone to come between me and my bread & cheese! Now, meh.

EnjoyTheTime, sure wish I lived in your gardening zone......remind me, what is nice weather? Sorry, Lisa and I are having a pity party because white stuff is falling from the sky.

Shannon, meatballs -- yum!

We are headed out to a friend's 60th birthday party tonight in a neighboring town. I hate driving in weather but looks like that's the way it's going to be. Had fun redoing the recent AARP Magazine cover which, seriously, has Bob Dylan on the cover, as a gag gift, and my husband rewrote the lyrics of a Beatles song to sing. Should be a blast. I am excited about my outfit -- a departure from my all-black "hide me" ensembles of the last ten years. Still a lot of black, lol, but a sassy little skirt, tights and a blue sweater that I just picked up off a sale rack. Matches the tights. Oh, and boots -- have I mentioned that I have these great boots? My feet feel so much better now that I have lost weight.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
