Is this something that all lap band patients go through? I was told of a lady that had it done, went strictly by the book, lost all her weight and now she wears a wig. Oh no!!!

I haven't heard of that from reading these forums, and was never told it was a side-effect by my dr. I'm a newbie too (banded Nov 11), but I don't have any fears or concerns that this will happen to me. (Unless a whole lot of veterans come on here and say something different!)

Ive been banded 3 yrs, no Hair loss to speak of. I think my hair is healthier than before WLS, maybe because of a better diet of Protein, fruits and veggies ? I just started taking Biotin ( for hair, nails and skin ) 4 weeks ago, Im not noticing any extra Hair growth yet, but definitely seeing more nail growth. Ill give it a few more weeks beforecI can make a judgement on hair growth. I know several people who swear by Biotin ( drugstore brand ) .

I did lose a lot of hair and it's starting to grow back now. I had thick hair to begin with. I'm worried because I'm having another minor non-WLS surgery this week with anesthesia and I'm afraid of losing it again. I just worry about the follicles giving up. My mom lost her hair twice on methotrexate for her RA and it didn't come back after the second round. She's totally bald and wears a wig.

Well I had my minor non-WLS procedure today under general anesthesia. I asked the anesthesia doc about Hair loss. He said nope. Not related to anesthesia. Maybe related to stress in general but not directly to the anesthesia. So here's hoping I don't have another round of hair loss. My new growth is about an inch long and I'm pretty thin all over. On my head, of course. Lol.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
