Any one got a Plateau around week 3,4?

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved on Dec 15. Went back to work on Jan 6 and I am doing great. Eating my mushy foods, getting 60 grams of Protein down and at least 48 oz of Water. I struggle with the water.

On the first 2 weeks I lost a lot. I am down 32 lbs but for week 3 and 4 post op I have been kind of stable. Anyone having a Plateau like me??

I am for the first time 100% sure that I am doing everything correct. So I am a little confused and worried. What am I doing wrong??

I had a plateau from weeks 3-5. From what I read on this forum, a plateau at that time is very, very common. You can search this site and there are lots of threads on the subject. Good luck and don't worry.

Yup, completely normal. Search "The Dreaded 3 Week Stall" either on Google or these forums and you will find much information about why it happens and how common it is. This won't be your last, either. Best advice is to not weigh yourself every day as to avoid the annoying fluctuations that normally happen as we go through this. I know it's tempting to weigh everyday in the beginning as the weight is just falling off, but soon your body adjusts and the weight loss starts to even out a little and slow down. Keep up the good work!

Mine started at 2 1/2 weeks and lasted for 3 weeks. It wasnt the last. You are not doing anything wrong... just keep up the good work.

I had stalls at weeks 3, 6, and 10. My doctor explained it to me in medical terms. From what I gathered it is do to the shock our body is going through. It is completely normal. Keep doing what you ate doing and your body will catch up. I promise! My HW was 316 SW 312 PreOp 279 CW 211. January 30th will be 6 months since my surgery. You are doing great! Stay focused!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
