Is this eating too much...I'm 11 Mos post

So I just wanted some of your options. I have been told at month 9, 10 ish post op rny by my new city's nut that I was eating to much for where I'm at. I was eating about 1 c , a lil more maybe at each meal. It was divided between meat and veg , mostly meat of course. So anyways my Breakfast this morning was the following: measured 3.20 Oz of chicken, about 1/4 of a medium apple and about 3 tbls of Peanut Butter. I was full and normally I don't eat this kind of meal. Normally I don't measure but i wanted to start new because I have fell off the wagon with the holidays and I'm trying to start fresh. Typically I eat 1 egg and 3 pieces of turkey bacon and I'm good. But I'm feeling super guilty about this peanut butter. I seriously love peanut butter and I think I had at least 2 servings maybe 3 this morning which is 200 each. Is this excessive or am I being obsessive? Should I just stick to my typical breakky?

I think the Peanut Butter may be a little too much. I would reduce that for sure.

I can't eat much more then 1/4 cup per meal and was told not to go above 1/2 cup. If you are on maintenance perhaps consider Snacks rather then large meals. I believe it's because you need to preserve the size of your pouch to avoid weight gain later on. food can slide right through your new tummy and you could end up gaining the weight back. I think that's why your medical team wants you to stay with a smaller portion. Also, to digest your food properly it has to stay in the pouch for an hour. If it slides through, the readily absorbed nutrients are the only ones going into your body and it also leads to gas and all sorts of intestinal issues.

I've always been taught by my surgeon to not snack that it directly leads to grazing if your not careful down the road..so I don't snack. But now I'm further out I'm a little confused on how much I should really eat in one meal. So your no more than half a cup, and how far out are you?

Are you still losing? You are already at goal, I see. I'd say if you're still losing, you're doing ok. If you're starting to gain, there is a "pouch test" I've read about, that is supposed to shrink your pouch back down so you can eat smaller amounts and be satisfied again.

Just so you know, this is just coming from what I've heard from others here. I haven't even had my surgery yet.

Yes still losing because I had put on about 6 lbs between thanksgiving and Christmas and since the new year I've started back on track and I have lost the 6lbs. And according to the scale this morning I should be hitting 133 by tmrw (i was 134.0)so that's the lowest I've been. I need to find out about this pouch test because I have seen it been written about but wasn't sure if it pertain to me so I will check that out:)

I'm only beginning this journey, myself, and am by no means an expert, but common sense tells me that you know your body better than anyone else, and if the portion size of what you are eating feels right to you, and you are able to maintain your weight, I don't see a problem with it. If there is one thing I have learned from reading the posts on here, it is that everyone is different. You are pretty close to one year out, and I was told that at one year I would be eating about a 1cup sized portion at mealtime.

I have been told by my nutrionist that Peanut Butter in moderation is an excellent source of Protein and that the fats in it are healthy. You have already met your goal so I don't think anything your'e doing is wrong. Also, I have been told little Snacks during the day are good for you. They want me to have 3 meals and 2 snacks. Snacking on protein is good for you. You are not expected to be hungry because then you might "binge". Snacks I was told to eat include yogurt, seeds, nuts, peanut butter, cheese on crackers. The laughing cow low fat cheese is great on wheat crackers. There you get protein and grains. All of this info is from my nutrionist. I know everyone gets different advice. But you are doing great, so I don't see a problem.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me.
