I was sleeved on 1/15 and went home 1/16. I could not tolerate the pain meds at all, so my doctor put me on extra strength Tylenol and Advil that has helped a lot. The worse part has been the Gas pain horrible, horrible it had me in tears. I bought chewable gasx the strips did nothing for me. Today is my first day of purée foods, had cream of wheat for Breakfast 1tsp, and I am now having some creamy Greek yogurt it taste so good. I am also to have 1 Protein Shake a day. I am taking 2oz in between meals. I am also having a lot of trouble getting in my Water. I still have a lot of gas and feel very full. I am happy to say that I have had no issues with feeling nauseated, not taking the pain meds has helped out. I am praying for the rest of this gas to go away so I can feel better.

I noticed so many doctors have so many different post op diets. It is so weird. I can only have Clear Liquids for 10 days then just liquids for 10 days and then I can have pureed foods. I noticed people who have been eating pureed foods not even a week out. I wonder why there are just such dramatic differences in the diets or is it based on individuals with different weight goals? I just don't want to be that person who is eating pizza within two months.

I was wondering the same thing. Even the preop diet some doctors allowed you to have some calories, I was on all liquid for 12 days. But I only had to do two days of liquid after surgery. Now I can have cream of wheat, yogurt, and creamy Soup and Protein Shake. Maybe it does depend on the individual person.

I was sleeved on 1/9 with Dr. Ortiz. I'm having trouble getting 64 oz of fluids in. I'm just so full so fast and don't feel any hunger. Room temp liquids go down best. Still on full liquids so I'm drinking cream Soups and Protein Shakes. Need to find something that tastes good and has a lot of bang for the buck so I can get all my Protein in. I'm down 9 lbs since surgery and a total of 42lbs from my highest weight last March. Still have soreness at my largest incision, but otherwise I feel good. Love reading how everyone else is doing and new ideas on how to manage each stage.

I am also on pureed food and eat about every fruit and veggie possible. I have a nutribullet so I put high Protein items such as spinach and such in there and grind the heck out of it. My doc also told me that I can have things like mashed potatoes and to start introducing soft foods like fish and chicken.< /p>

Hi

New to to group and 6 days post op.

Completely off pain killers day 3 Post op. Stomach discomfort though, more from rolling gas than surgery wounds, but not the painful kind of gas just bloating.

Finding myself very drained especially when waking up in the morning, I really have to push myself hard to shower, get dressed and moving.

Clear liquid diet and Protein Shakes are tough to get in as well, but each day Im finding it gets better. 1st post follow up visit with Dr and Nutr tomorrow. Hopefully phase 2 soft foods...Yummy maybe :)

sleeping is a chore and i find myself more comfortable for the most part sleeping in a reclined position propped up on pillows.

I know all these things are to be expected at this stage though tough but are do-able with God's help. I will keep pushing and take one day at a time because I have been blessed with such an awesome privilege and oppurtunity to be healthier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
