January Sleevers ❄️

Recommended Posts

@ Gendy, had my surgery on 1/8/15 and not hungry at all, just thirsty. I've set reminders on my phone to make myself eat 3 times a day.

I'm supposed to eat 4-6oz every 2 hours. It takes me an hour to eat. So I feel like I'm eating all the time, and I'm full all day.

I know we shouldn't wish for such things but I think that I would be happy if I get this non existent hunger that some people talk about.

Found the board Yea! Sleeve plication at OCC on 1/7. My friend got a sleeve gastrectomy a day before me. Recovery has been similar. Although I think the tummy inflation pulled my right oblique muscle. Been having serious pain and spasms there.

So I had the idea that we should post our stats monthly from day of surgery. It's nice to compare. I was supposed to start activity but my body just says NO. Resting another week then we'll see.

Day 2 in the hospital. Just had my leak test and I believe it's all good. Gas is just starting but not bad. I'm very tired though. Not much sleep with the nurses coming in every two hours. Now I am every four hours. Switching to an oral pain meds today going off of the button that I can press whenever. So hopefull can keep pain tolerable. I will get out around 2 o'clock tomorrow. Hi everyone! I am six days postop. I was sleeved on January 8. The day of my surgery was horrible. I was sick and nauseous all day long. i'm not sure if it was the anesthesia or the pain medicine or both. But I was dry heaving and crying. It wasn't until late that night they got me the right combination of antinausea medicine and pain medicine. Since then things have been pretty good. I've stopped taking the pain medicines although I do have discomfort and pain at times in my stomach near my incision spots. One odd thing that has happened since the beginning. I get this wave across the top of my stomach that's a mix of nausea/Hunger. It passes in about 5 to 10 seconds but it stops me in my tracks. I'm not sure what that is. it has gotten less frequent as the days go on. The first few days I was nowhere close to where I needed to be with Fluid intake. But I've been getting better every day and yesterday I went well beyond what I needed. Protein hasn't been that difficult, surprisingly. I am using GENEPRO unflavored protein powder. If you've seen any of my other posts, you know I don't really like it and it doesn't dissolve well. However for 1 tablespoon you get 30 g of protein. So twice a day I suck it up and make it work with the broth or sugar free hot chocolate. I joined a new gym and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill today. I'm waiting for a call back from my doctors office now to switch to phase 2 which would be full liquids. Phase 2 doesn't seem to be that different than phase 1 except I can have pudding watered down with skim milk or applesauce. Anyone have any suggestions for the phase 2 part of the diet?

I had mine on 1/2 (13 days post op) and am doing really well. I've moved on to purée and feel like a new person. The first thing I tried was Progresso chicken Corn Chowder (liquified in the blender and added some pepper) and I think it may have been the best thing I've eaten in my entire life. :)

I've also had Bojangles mashed potatoes and gravy which set really nicely on my tummy. I'm still getting the bulk of my Protein through the shakes (I use Premier w/ 30 grams per shake) because I just can't bear adding he unflavored Protein Powder to my yummy Soups and "real" foods. I drink 2 per day. Luckily I have had zero restriction where liquids are concerned so I am able to drink the shakes and my Water without any problems.

Good luck to everyone! Every day it gets a little better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
