sissy63 12 Posted January 9, 2015 Surgery was Dec. 16, 2014. I am 20 pounds down:) I have been given the 'green light' to eat soft foods. MAN! I never knew a scrambled egg could taste so good ! ! I still drink my Protein shake for lunch. And I try my best to make sure my Protein is the first thing I eat. BUT WOW! 5 days post surgery....I never knew a pickle could look so delicious! But I refrained, and maintained. What I find most perplexing is getting the amount of Water in and protein. I can only hold about 3 oz. and I'm NOT trying to stretch it out !! But I keep on keeping on. My b/p has been within normal limits since I had the surgery WITHOUT MEDICATION:) as well as my cholesterol. My knee pain is gone too!! And I sleep better:) Each day brings something new to learn....like I cannot chug Water ....I must take small sips....and I must walk. I don't have one regret.......... WL WARRIOR 692 Posted January 9, 2015 Did you quit taking your blood pressure medicine after surgery? I don't know if my blood pressure has really improved because my PCP won't discontinue or lower my Atenolol.

Midtown girl 44 Posted January 9, 2015 I know how you feel!! I am 21 days post op today and I am almost 50 lbs down since I started this process (including pre-op diet). I had mashed potatoes and chicken (that I chewed until I couldn't chew anymore!!)for dinner today and I felt like finally I am having real food, but without a need to eat huge quantities of it. I am trying on the clothes that I couldn't fit into before and they are fitting! Definitely the best decision I made!
Eli Alexander 316 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) Congrats. I'm nervous, heading into the surgery in two weeks, and reading threads like this one lifts my spirit. Keep it up. Edited January 10, 2015 by Eli Alexander
FortKnox78 109 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) Congrats. I'm nervous, heading into the surgery in two weeks, and reading threads like this one lifts my spirit. Keep it up.Eli..I too am a few week's out from surgery and feel a tad nervous. From what I can gather, as long as we precisely follow the doctors orders, we should be in good shape. Good luck to you!! Edited January 10, 2015 by FortKnox78
Midtown girl 44 Posted January 10, 2015 Don't worry guys. Listen to the surgeons and your body and you will not regret this decision. The little of pain and fear will be a distant memory before you know it.
Eli Alexander 316 Posted January 10, 2015 For a little inspiration, go to google images and search gastric sleeve before and after pictures. Look in their eyes, it's more than just weight loss, it's life gain.

I don't know if my blood pressure has really improved because my PCP won't discontinue or lower my Atenolol. Yes I quit taking mine after surgery. WITH my NP approval, but we had already had an understanding that is what would happen, cause I WANTED TO KNOW. What I would suggest that you do is monitor 2-3 times daily your blood pressure for about 5-7 days. And then I would take my readings to my PCP and have a serious talk with him/her, and ask WHY can you not even try without the medications... Yes they are the medical expert, but you CAN and should ask questions.
