I had my surgery on December 16th. So, as you can see, I'm really new to this!

I finally got to the point where I just knew that I needed help losing weight because me trying to do it all on my own was just not working... I tried just about every fad diet out there.. while some worked for a while, I couldn't maintain that loss.. I pretty much had an addiction to food.

I would work out 5-6 days a week doing everything from being a gym rat to doing crossfit. nothing seemed to work anymore.

I finally took the plunge and started the whole LONG process this past August. and in a short time I was going under the knife.

The pain afterwards was WAY less than I had anticipated. Pretty much felt like I had been doing abs at the gym for 12+ hours.

I am not really sure if this is the "right" place to do my intro, but here it is.

I'm almost 36 (in 2 days).

Starting weight was 292.. I'm down to 263 right now.. but I lost quite a bit of muscle.. I am on soft foods, and am looking forward to a more "normal" diet regime.

I have to be a bit honest... I thought that the weight would come off faster.. but a loss is a loss right? I am hoping to gain more muscle back to be able to lose more fat.. and hopefully will get cleared to go back to the gym next week after my next follow up visit.

I hope to be able to talk freely here with you all. I do not have many people in real life that I CAN talk to that would even begin to understand the ups and downs.

I think your weight loss is great. Not even a month out. I was sleeved on dec. 23. I can relate to the feeling of losing muscle especially in my legs but I feel confident that once we resume exercise routine this will rebuild.

And I am not really sure how to figure the weight anyway.. So much is edema in the beginning. I was 278.5 on Dec 11 at pre-op visit, then 271.5 day of surgery and got home from hospital and weighed 286 thanks to all the fluids. ( I had internal bleeding and got transfusions and fluids for 3 days) Today at 16 days for my follow up visit 258.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. Opinions and tact will vary.......just sayin'.

Sounds like you are doing fine. This is not a race. There is no price for losing quickly, no penalty for losing more slowly. Some people wish they could lose a pound a day, but at that rate, you would be vanished into thin air by Halloween.

Just follow your plan and don't get discouraged with stalls. Stalls are like lovers. Your first will probably not be your last!

I got sleeved on Dec 15. Went back to work on Jan 6 and I am doing great. Eating my mushy foods, getting 60 grams of Protein down and at least 48 oz of Water. I struggle with the water.

On the first 2 weeks I lost a lot. I am down 32 lbs but for week 3 and 4 post op I have been kind of stable. Anyone having a Plateau like me??

I am for the first time 100% sure that I am doing everything correct. So I am a little confused and worried. What am I doing wrong??

My surgery was Dec. 23rd, 2014. Three weeks out and have lost 16 pounds. I think you are doing great. I was at 223 and am now at 207. I started getting cravings back, but I am sticking to everything. I crave restaurant food, but the foods I do eat, the yogurt and Protein Shakes, I really would be happy if I didn't eat anything at all.

Hi everyone!

I had my surgery dec 15 and I am having the hardest time getting all of my Protein and fluids! I average about 40g protein daily and about 30 oz of fluids daily. I feel like I am constantly eating and drinking but still cannot get all that's needed. I am constantly drinking Isopure mixed with light juice. I am down 31lbs so far but worried about not getting the fluids and protein! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you tried the Protein Shake from costco. It is called Premier Protein. I love the vanilla, like the chocolate and hate the strawberry!

The good thing is that they have almost no Carbs and 30gr of Protein per 11oz

I have one in the morning ... I sip for 1 hour then another at the end of trhe day if I need extra protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
