I have a question, because I'm very confused. I had my surgery Dec 18th. So far I've lost 25lbs. I'm happy with that loss but the past 2 days the scale is reading that I'm gaining weight. I have no idea how that's possible since I'm surviving off of hot tea and the occasional half-cup of Soup. Any insight??

It may just be Water retention. I have days where I eat next to nothing and wake up and I've gained weight. It always goes away again in the next few days. Over Christmas I started Christmas week at 134, ate no more than 1000 calories any day, ended the week at 137, then woke up a day later at 133. As long as it isn't a consistent gain, then you're fine. Be patient...haha, or so I tell myself...I am not a patient person.

Thanks for the replies. I always knew the scale was evil. I just thought I would like it a little more once I started losing weight.

The same thing happened to me this past week. It was very frustrating. I increased my actual Water intake and for 2 days most of my intake was Clear Liquids. Also realized I had not taken my probiotic for almost a week.

This morning I was down 3lbs..

Thank you @@caramel6 I believe that is my issue. I need to increase my Fluid intake. That will be my mission this week, increase my fluids and hide my scale lol

Hi there LeoButterfly25, I had my surgery on 27 November. I weigh myself every day but only record it once a week - it jumps around so much in a 24 hour period that it is just ridiculous. I found my biggest issue in my Fluid phase and part way through my soft food phase though to be bowel movements. (I know it isn't very pleasant to talk about, but hey, we all do it!!!!!). Don't despair over what the scale tells you today, because it can change quicker than you can blink... Good luck with everything, and I look forward to seeing your progress, especially as we are on a very similar timeline xxx

Thank you! @@Miss Meg I'm so excited to see changes as my journey progresses. I was just baffled by this "setback". How have you been doing with getting in your fluids and Protein? ?

Hey, my sleeve was on dec 19 and I am not losing. At my post op visit the dr said I was not eating enough and to journal everything I eat and drink. Next week I will weigh and see what happens. I did start riding the exercise bike Monday.

You making that Soup from scratch or store bought? What's the sodium count? It's probably Fluid retention, but again the best course of action is to stay off the scale.< /p>

LeoButterfly25 I found the Fluid phase to be the hardest part of all. Consuming everything in a liquid form is the pits!!! I was able to get in a bit of Protein in the way of smoothies - but there really isn't a great deal more you can do than that.

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
