Husband's VSG scheduled for 1/12/15 at 10:15 am CST.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My husband, Lewis, is scheduled for his surgery on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:15 am. He is a very high risk patient and the surgery will not be laproscopic. The surgeon has to go in via an incision due to other health issues.

Those who are so inclined--PLEASE say a prayer for him to be able to undergo the vertical sleeve gastrectomy AND recover well from it. Those are the remaining hurdles for him. As I've said before, I would very much like to be a couple who can dance again, travel again and enjoy things we used to enjoy.

Keep warm everyone in the states, I know it's colder than a well digger's a$$ in Alaska as my father used to say. ;)

Kathleen

wonderful way to start the new year :)

surgery on my b'day is a good sign too :)

turn about is fair play

he helped you the past year with his support

now you can help him - then both work and support each other!!

how great is that!!!

i can only imagine with his past issues, you are both nervous/anxious/excited etc

please report back how things are going on monday

we all get involved/feel for our fellow sleevers or any other WLS people ;)

after his re-cuperation hope to see you two dancing into the sunset on your cruise to hawaii or "alaska" ;)

baby it is cold outside!!! Syracuse, NY

i've always heard the expression "its colder than a witches titttttt" :o :D

may this new year bring you both all the health and happiness you deserve :)

good luck

kathy

Kathy,

Thank you. I'm so grateful for this site. Thank you Alex Brecher.

Coming here and posting and getting feedback from people who have been there, done that and bought the T-shirt ;) ---is PRICELESS.

I'll keep y'all updated on Lewis's status after his surgery Monday.

Imagine someone singing this sweetly, (admittedly, that would be someone other than myself) :D:

"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Kathy, happy birthday to you!"

I wish you a very happy, wonderful birthday.

Kathleen

I will pray for him. My surgery is 01/14 and I would appreciate prayers as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
