Hospital stay and How long were you out of work?

Recommended Posts

Hi there :)

I was in the hospital 2 nights.

Out of work for 4 weeks.

I am a Nurses Aide and I do a lot of bending, lifting and I'm just about on my feet for 8 hrs.

If I had had a desk job he would have put me back at 2 weeks

I had an afternoon surgery so stayed two nights in the hospital. I was back to work in 2 weeks and 5 days. Not sure I would have been ready to go back earlier but I work on a college campus library and campus was closed almost the entire time I was off and I went back the first day we reopened. I only had to use 3 days of leave total.

2.5 days in the hospital and 2 weeks off work. I had surgery on a Monday and felt fantastic by that Friday...still a bit sore, but good energy and got alot of walking in. I did tend to nap quite a bit and took it easy overall. A wonderful recovery overall.

I was in the hospital for 2 nights. Off 4 weeks, physically I could have gone back sooner but I have a mentally taxing, very detailed job and I felt mentally fuzzy so I took longer than the 3 weeks my Dr. recommended.

In the hospital for about 18 hours after surgery. Surgery on a Friday, back to work the next Friday. I am a vet tech, so on my feet 10+ hours/day, bending, squatting, lifting, etc. I had to keep my lifting under 20 pounds for 3 weeks, but other than that I was fine. Energy level a bit low since I was on liquids only for 3 weeks, but got better once I started adding pureed fruit to my Protein smoothies. I'm partners in a small veterinary practice, so if I don't work, we don't make money. No such thing as paid time off for me. The 7 days I took off included sat, sun, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I only had to actually miss 3 days of work.

I wanted to go back after two weeks but my doctor would not clear me. Did not want me to push it. I will be out 4 weeks.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
