I cannot get a hold of this pain. I know that I'm new here and all I post about it this pain. I have been given new med after new med and nothing truely comforts me. I am in constant communication with my surgeons NP I know I'm newly post op as on December 30th when I had my rny but i need some sort of relief for my sanity trying to deal with this much pain. I have been told over and over that it's part of the process I have no symptoms of anything wrong. No fever, nothing other the excruciating left side abdominal pain. Where my tummy is actually caved in. I cannot let go of it, clenching it 24/7 dare I let go and the pain escalates to almost unbearable.

@@newlifeb I am so sorry to hear of your pain, I have 10 days to go my surgery is scheduled for the 17th. I'm so new at this I have no advice to give.. Did you do everything you were supposed to, drinking your Clear Liquids? How's that working for you now, are you holding anything down or vomiting at all?

I can hold everything down, Water, Protein Shakes, broth, disgusting vile medication makes me gag a little. The pain is so localized to that one area. Doc not his NP seem to be concerned at all and keep reminding me it's just part of the process and my body just needs to heal... I thought it would be at least a little better by now but boy I was so wrong. It hurts something awful. I've been told here that it's normal and one day il wake up and the pain will just be gone and I don't get that! For now I am holding on to hopes that day will soon come so I can go on with my life pain free and really start the weight loss journey. My mind is so clouded mentally and physically wearing on me trying to come with this pain. :/

Eight days out and you will have some pain. My big incision was on the right because I had my gallbladder out but I've been reading a lot of people have their big incision on the left. The doctor explained it to me that the surgeon ties that incision very tight with sutures. Mine was sunk in too. The pain went completely away at three weeks. I am seven weeks post op today. I was in the hospital for 4 days and was on pain medication the entire time. I was taking pain medication only at night for the first two nights at home and then I didn't need it anymore. Give your body time to heal. You just had major surgery! Obstruction? I highly doubt it unless you ate something and are not following liquids only. Best of luck! ????

I agree with above. Try to walk, walk, walk even through the pain for just a couple minutes at a time. It will help immensely! Sorry you are suffering so much

Omg I did too!!! Don't know why! Doc doesn't either!! Hang in there!! Week 2-3 all of a sudden it WILL subside!! Try prune juice if you're stuck at all. Gas is a bitch!! Body healing I promise! I thought I was the only one!!! I'm 9 weeks out. Still some pain here n there but after 4 weeks I went back to work! You can do this!!!

I felt that way too and had 1 incision giving me the blues. I walked and walked and walked. I had gas x and finally tried a heating pad. It helped so much thanks to advice from someone on here! It does get better with the pain. I will be praying for you!!

I had the exact same pain where the one incision was caved in. Was worse in the evening for some odd reason. At times when I bent over it was sharp and knocked the wind out of me. It also burned. I used ice and vicodin. Surgeon said would take about four weeks for the suture to dissolve. Took 5 weeks.

Gas pain is the worst part of this surgery. Honestly what worked for me was a heating pad, walking and drinking fluids. I also chewed a lot of gas x.

It subsided after a couple of weeks but got better every day.

I do think walking is what is most successful getting the gas out of your system.

Good luck and hopefully this rough spot will be over for you soon.

If you are having that much pain and have asked your Dr for help and got no results, jump in the car and go to the e.r. This was a major surgery and you have every right to know what's going on with your body. I had my surgery last Thursday, pain wasn't to terrible, thank goodness but once I got home my right hand swelled up the size of a softball. My nurse friends told me it looked infected and to get back to the hospital. I had my I.v. In that hand and knew something wasn't right with it when I left the hospital, I asked what to do with it and my nurse told me it was normal and not to worry about it. The swelled hand was so painful, even without touching it, my hand hurt worse than the surgery. Long story short, I had a blood clot in my hand.

You are your own best advocate. If you think something is wrong, do something about it. Don't wait for it to get worse, get to the e.r. And have them do the tests. You will be much happier and settled when you know what the pain is from and how to handle it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
