Question...do you look older after your weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if those of you who have already had your sleeves, do you find you look older? I'm thinking I will, not that it will stop me from getting my sleeve, but with over 100+ to lose, and with my age, I'm thinking I'll look older than I am with the sagging skin on my face! Thoughts?

I was literally just thinking about this today. I've been lucky to generally look younger than I am and I think that is about to come to an abrupt stop. heh

I heard it depends on your skin type. (Oily or not).... I haven't had the surgery yet but I have thought of that. I had a friend who did the surgery years ago and she did look a bit older.

I don't know if I look older but I definitely have more lines and wrinkles because there is not fat in my face filling it in.

I definitely look younger. I'm 34 but a lot of people tell me I look 19. Even my close friends have remarked at how much younger I look.

I don't know, but I feel younger. I know that I look better enough that I did not mind getting my picture taken for a new ID.

@@Sleeve101 Thank you! I have good genes in my family. My grandmother was beautiful. I know everyone says that but she really was. Those pictures were taking on the day I left the hospital and at my 3 mth f/u. I'll be 4 mths on the 18th. I hadn't noticed the weight loss until I looked at the photos.

I'm 69 years old.

I look MUCH younger now than I did 65 pounds ago.

Needless to say, I worried about looking older. But it just hasn't worked out that way at all.

:)

I just an appointment with my nut and psychologist this am and just kind of mentioned this to them. They did say that a lot of their patients do look older after but not all! We shall see. Just had a call to meet with my surgeon but had to postpone because of an impending storm tommorrow! Hubby doesn't want me driving 3 hrs in the snow

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
