rachlynn14 0 Posted January 8, 2015 I loved Water pre surgery, but since surgery it does not settle on my stomach. I've mixed it with all kinds of crystal lights, sugar free powders, etc my stomach goes crazy gurgguling constantly....
maggie0210 117 Posted January 8, 2015 Protein Shakes count towards your liquid intake, can you drink those? Also, if the Water doesn't cause pain, still try to keep some down. You can also sip on chicken broth. Or you can suck on ice chips. That's all I can think of.

I am 9 weeks and sti don't handle water very well if at all. Two spa and my new tummy is growling with threAts of returning the content to the outer world I do realize that this seems to be common as I'm not the first nor will I be the last to have this issue. I simply keep trying every few days in hopes that the new tummy will find peace with the natural Fluid . Hope you feel better. Hugs of support.
ready2B 263 Posted January 8, 2015 I think this is pretty common though I don't know why. I am 2 months out and I can't drink plain Water at all or it feels like I've swallowed a rock. I do okay with Crystal Light (most of the time) but herbal tea has become my new best friend. Camomile & peppermint are really soothing to my tummy and I think the warmth helps as well. gettinghealthymom1 70 Posted January 8, 2015 I used to love Water too ! Haven't been able to get It down even with crystal light. Hopefully soon
staceylc 3 Posted January 8, 2015 Drinking Water at first used to cause me pain - I would suggest taking very small sips of water. That's what my doctor told me to do and continue to sip throughout the day. But if the water still isn't settling with your stomach try switching it up to teas or skim milk or broths or even Jello. They all count as your liquid intake. It may just take a little bit of time for your stomach to get used to the water. Good luck!

Golflady 19 Posted January 9, 2015 My doctor said cold Water and just Water can cause nausea (it did and I had to go to ER to be re-hydrated with IV fluids). Try Gatorade G2 (lower in sugar) and at room temp and you can dilute it with water. Also find chicken broth is my friend. I am now 3 weeks post op and started drinking water and it is doing ok now. bellabloom 2,467 Posted January 10, 2015 God I miss chugging Water. Sigh. I empathize
CrazyJaney 775 Posted January 10, 2015 I still have plain Water nausea 10 months out. Only tricks I know are: hot tea or artificially sweetened tea sit better, and if I eat a small amount when drinking (piece of Jerky or cheese) I don't feel the nausea as much. Very frustrating. I loved water preop.
jess9395 5,449 Posted January 10, 2015 I can only drink bottled filtered Water, tap water still sits funny/heavy in my stomach over a year out and makes me sick to my stomach
Granny Barbie 41 Posted January 10, 2015 Hope by now you're able to get some Water down. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out and still can only do 1 oz at a time. I Use sugar free Popsicles and they work the best. Good luck!
wildGoose 207 Posted January 11, 2015 I AGREE with ready2b. At first there was some bottled Water I liked. I'm 10 weeks out now and can't stand Water. i'm relying on herbal teas, too. The blends with chamomile are my faves. Sleepy time and Tension Tamer are good. I also have Smooth Move/Peppermint which keeps things moving.
