Where have you found to be the best source for Vitamins after bariatric surgery? Do you pay out of pocket, or does the insurance cover the cost?

I have been looking around .

This is what I need daily:

Multi-Vitamin/Mineral with Iron 2 a day

Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D 1200 mg

Vitamin D-3 5000 IU

Vitamin B12 1000 mcg

Biotin 2000 mcg

Suggestions ?

WLS Vitamins.com Developed by a bariatric surgeon. Complete; very reasonably priced. BUT, caltrate with d is a good value especially if you find a coupon in the paper. I doubt ins. will pay. Never heard of that. But do keep receipts. Can itemize on taxes as you NEED it to live.

I take Centrium chewable multi Vitamins (you can find almost anywhere, very inexpensive) - 2 per day

calcium citrate capsules from Vitamin shoppe(also inexpensive) - 2 capsules, 3xs a day

B12 (from costco, even though it is twice the dosage I was told was fine, also inexpensive)

Vitamin D (almost anywhere)

Iron (capsules from Vitamin shoppe)

I'm 6 months out and no longer take any bariatric specific Vitamins. I'm hoping within the next few months I can switch to a regular multi vitamin instead of a chewable

my surgeon suggests Flintstone for children! Seriously! No need to get overly fancy. People get rich selling us junk food, and they get rich helping us heal.

I take Celebrate Multivitamins so far. They specialize in bariatric supplements, but I'm still waiting on instructions for more supplements after I'm further out from surgery. You can order a sample pack on their website (http://www.celebratevitamins.com/) to see how you like the taste before you go all-in. The sample pack contains pretty much every product they make, but you can also request something specific in the comments box if you need it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
