mns112182 11 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) I am 10 days post-op and noticed a change in the color of my urine. It's almost as dark as tea....only way I can describe. It doesn't appear that there is blood in my urine, it's just really dark. I only drink Water and low calorie jucies as directed. Any idea, could it just be my body is adjusting or reacting to the changes? Maybe I'm not drinking enough water? Edited January 7, 2015 by mns112182

easymack63 18 Posted January 7, 2015 It is, unfortunately, a sign of dehydration. Drink more Water. My surgeon told me that urine color is a good way to judge your hydration levels. Lighter is, obviously, better.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 7, 2015 Not enough Water. Once you get enough water in it should lighten up.
laurenella82 625 Posted January 7, 2015 Yup! Dehydration. I had this same problem during pregnancy and was told to drink gatorade as well as Water. (I had a hard time drinking water at the time).
Elode 8,093 Posted January 7, 2015 @@mns112182 Def dehydrated or Vitamins can also change the color of urine. Drink drink drink!
BitterSweet* 835 Posted January 7, 2015 It is dehydration, and if you can't correct it on your own today, it'd be best to seek medical care for IV fluids. The kidneys are intolerant of prolonged dehydration and combined with a high Protein diet = potential kidney problems.
Justoperated 141 Posted January 7, 2015 Dehydration causes dark urine but usually not tea colour. Check with your doctor, it could be blood that has denatured in bladder.
MyssJones 84 Posted January 7, 2015 @@mns112182 This is normally a sign of dehydration. I would recommend you getting some gatorade or Powerade to to help re-hydrate your body quickly.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted January 8, 2015 Or coconut Water if you want to go all natural. FYI - Mine was really dark almost tea colored for a long time. I'd say from week 2 to about week 6. As I transitioned to regular food and drank mostly water it lightened up.
