I'm having a hard time finding past topics about skin tightening and research about up and coming procedures. There is a new laser skin tightening treatment for under the arms but I don't know anyone that can review that procedure. I wish there was an area in the forum for people who have lost the weight can talk about more "skin deep" issues.

Does anyone have a skin treatment review out side of surgery?

Have you checked out realself.com? They have reviews for a lot of the procedures, not just those related to surgery. In my experience, the skin tightening is largely a waste of money for anyone who has had major weight loss. Much as it is expensive, the only really good way to fix the loose skin, especially on your arms (tricep area) is through surgery. Kind of a bummer :(

There's something called a Venus Freee treatments. I had heard about it and asked one of the makeup groups I belong to. Surprisingly mostly positive reviews. If they offer it in your area you might be able to go in for a consultation.

I've been doing research all day. It looks like the laser can help some if you are not too bad. The rest of it is genetics and diet. I'm going to focus on diet by increasing my collagen fibers and promoting my skin to bounce back. People think they are cute by finding all these sugar free Snacks but that just destroys your collagen by increasing insulin (that kills your elastin)

Here are my results:

1. Stay off the sugar and sugar free junk food.

  • YOUR SWEET TOOTH IS DESTROYING YOUR SKIN. It circulates through your blood stream ripping and tearing away at your cells and destroying collagen / elastin.
  • INSULIN SPIKES created by "Sugar free" junk also destroys your skin.

2. Drink Bone broth http://www.prevention.com/beauty/beauty/does-bone-broth-help-your-skin

3. Drink White Tea: "research conducted by Kingston University and Neal’s Yard Remedies, white tea may protect the structural Proteins of the skin"

4. Get Omega-3: it surrounds the cell membrane and lubricates it.

5. juice Red Vegetables: makes natural sunscreen and increases collagen (alpert medical school)

6. juice or eat Dark green vegetables: Rev up collagen production: Rich in Vitamin C, dark green vegetables like spinach and kale can rev up collagen production. In topical products, “Vitamin C has antioxidizing properties that stabilize the messenger enzymes that break collagen down. It also protects against free radicals to prevent weak collagen,” says Orlando, FL, dermatologist Dr. Dimitry Palceski.

7. Juice or eat Orange Vegetables: Restore and regenerate: Vegetables that are orange in color, like carrots and sweet potatoes, are rich in Vitamin A, which restores and regenerates damaged collagen.

8. Citrus Fruits and Berries: Get rid of free radicals that damage skin. They are rich in Vitamin C have the ability to help amino acids—lysine and proline—convert to collagen.

9. Eggs: The most complete Protein builds muscle and skin.

10. Garlic: (I roast it) The high sulfur is necessary for collagen production.

11. Raw Oysters: Rich in Zinc—an essential element of the collagen-building process.

I agree fake sugars aren't good for you and collagen is important for healthy hair/skin/nails. Personally I stick to plant based sources.

If I was vegan I would focus on Juicing to get high nutrient dense food in me. I think eggs are very important though. It is a complete Protein.< /p>

Juicing is not advised as a primary source of nutrients because the pulp is separated from the juice, hence you miss most of the Fiber and nutrients your body needs. A blender along the lines of a nutra bullet or ninja is a lot better. However even vegans or should I say especially vegans need whole foods for safe nutrition. However whole grains like quinoa and farro are also complete Proteins.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
