Just curious how those with September surgeries are doing. Seems I have hit quite a stall and am disappointed. I thought I would have lost more by now. How much of all those at 4 months lost?

Hi!

I had surgery on September 2nd. My total weight loss is 70 pounds. I am very pleased. I did lose 20 pounds before surgery. My weight loss is very slow now since I am about 30 pounds from goal. I am only losing about a pound a week and some weeks I don't lose anything at all. I don't know by your stats how you've done so far, but hang in there! My NUT and surgeon says that we need to allow a full year to get the best results.

Best of luck!

Carol

Hi! I'm almost 4 months out. I have lost 58 pounds, but I'm not sure how much I lost pre op, so that's total weight. I have 32 pounds to goal and am losing about 2 pounds per week.

I had a stall in October for almost a month then found myself grazing through the holidays! I think the grazing is so destructive for me. I took two weeks off for Christmas and lost 8 pounds! Apparently I deal with work stress by grazing! I'm happy to see the dramatic difference it was making.

However, I also dealt with a real long stall following the program as specified. I think our bodies go through adjustment periods. We may not drop pounds but we seem to drop inches. Either way I'm sorry you are going through this, but sticking with the plan will yield results! Best wishes on an end to your stall.

On the 16th, I will be 4 months out. I was a conversion from band. I have lost 45 lbs and am about 35 from my ultimate goal weight, which is 130. My surgeons goal weight is 150. My weight loss has been painfully slow but I am still chugging along. I'm averaging about 2lbs a week now.

My hunger has definitely come back and I'm trying to keep it in check with increased Water. Before I had to force myself not to eat, now I have to stop myself from eating. I don't have cravings for sweets, which I am so thankful for. I haven't really tried anything sweet except for one bite of my DD's birthday cake. I have no idea if I am a dumper and really have no plans to eat sweets.

I can however eat everything else. I keep thinking that I'm going to come across a food that bothers my new stomach, but it hasn't happened yet. I can eat dairy, all meats, veggies, etc.

I am loving my new self. I am down to a size 10 jeans and medium tops. I almost think I could be happy at this size but I know what I weighed in my 20's (40 now) and I would like to try and get back to that.

Good luck everyone and keep it up.

So I feel like I finally pulled through my stall. I was so excited when I weighed myself today and was in onderland. It was by .2 pounds but hey that counts! Am more excited and motivated than ever. Half way to goal! Maybe someday I'll see myself other than big and fat. Work in progress I guess. 70 pounds more to go!

My surgery was sept 3. I'm down 55 plus 10 pre op. My doc is not happy with my results and reduced my calorie intake to 600-700. I've also increased my exercise burning 600+ calories. I had a 3 week stall a month or two ago and a few shorter stalls throughout. I have finally started losing again with my reduced calorie intake and increased workouts. I have about 50 to go for my doctor's goal and 70 for my goal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
