Just had surgery the 6th. Im wondering if anyone had a problem where stomach felt like someone was grabbing it and sueezing it? Like serious pain. Everyone has said it is gas but they will not let me taking anything for gas? And they even saId the pain medicine isn't going to help with that…. doesn't make sense to me. I ve been walking as much as possible. The incisions aren't bothering me its just this sour/full/pain non-stop. i'm about to go insane. Has anyone had this/ how long did it last? any suggestions? what kind of gas medicine should i get so i can at least make it go away when i leave the hospital…..have no idea why they won't give me something to relive this irritating hell of a pain.

I too had horrible gas pain and walked 3 miles trying to pass gas in the hospital and nothing. I found out later that the lortab they were giving me for pain was too strong. A nurse had Vsg and told me it was probably numbing my intestines. They switched to Tylenol with codeine, I sat in a rocker and rocked my heart out. Gas defently moved then on day 3. The gas x strips only took the edge off and I took two on the car ride home. Hopefully this passes for you. I thought this was the worst and I've had 2 csections.

Dr. Zavalza has me taking gasx chewable or strips for next 2 months to keep bloating down. Been taking since surgery on Dec. 29

I had a LOT of gas post-op, and I still get it. Luckily for me, it doesn't really hurt and passes easily. Still, I chew 2 extra strength GasX tablets 2 x daily when the gas is out of control and it works very well.

Also, I am newly lactose intolerant. If I drink an 8 oz glass of milk, I will have terrible gas and flatulence for 24 hours! 4 oz of yogurt? Flatulent for 3 hours! What are you eating/drinking? Could you no longer be tolerant of foods you easily consumed previously?

I just started my clear liquid diet. I do think, they were giving me too strong of medicine (dilaudid). They started me on low mg of percocet and I've been walking as much as possible. The gas has gone down but man I wished that was one of the topics they discussed before surgery. That was unbearable and unexpected …still not fully comfortable but nothing like it was 24 hrs ago.

That's great keep working on it and we will keep praying it gets better.

I hope you are feeling better today. I can't take dilaudid at all. It causes extreme motion sickness and vomiting. During this hospital experience, morphine did the same thing. I didn't start feeling better until I got on liquid hydrocodone.

It's really rough in the beginning. It really does get better. But I'm still in the thick of it as well. Stayed home from work today because of severe nausea. Came out of no where! I'm 3 weeks post-op. Thought I'd be over that by now.

Good news is that, yesterday, I wore a pair of 12-year-old pants to work that I haven't been able to fit into in ages. I mention this only to encourage you to keep your eye on the prize!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
